Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this allow sending HDMI out from Digital Bolex into Zacuto Gratical Eye SDI?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G (B&H# BLCVCMICHS03) will convert an HDMI 1080p60 signal to SDI for use with your choice of a compatible SDI device, among them the Zacuto Gratical Eye Micro OLED EVF (B&H #AXZAZGRE): https://bhpho.to/3zxgjLz

Q: 2. Can the output of this device be locked into Standard Definition? (SD-SDI)

A: Sorry but i dont know

Q: 3. Does this auto-switch based on active inputs?

A: It does not. This is not an Auto Switch.

Q: 4. I'm trying to connect a Canon C70 (HDMI Out only) -- converter HDMI to SDI -- Blackmagic UltraStudio Extreme -- Mac running DaVinci Resolve (or other capture software), And then trigger camera record from the computer. Will this work? Will the capture signal be properly sent to the camera?

A: The Canon C70 would only output a signal from its HDMI port. So the signal would be converted by the Black Magic 12G converter from HDMI to 12G SDI, Then sent to the Ultrastudio Extreme input for recording. Yes it would allow you to record the output of the C70.

Q: 5. will this convert timecode from a bnc cable to hdmi for a mixpre-6?

A: No. This converter supports SDI video/audio with embedded timecode but will not convert.

Q: 6. Does this converter support 740X400 70Hz input resolution?

A: Input resolutions are defined as up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) and 1080p60. No low end input is defined, only the max.

Q: 7. Can this be used to convert a signal from a 4CIF security camera to something a Atomos recorder will support?

A: It may work if the camera is outputting a SDI/HDMI signal, but security cameras do not typically output these signals.

Q: 8. What image parameters can the user adjust? e.g. Horizontal or vertical size, or horizontal of vertical phase?

A: You can adjust the Horizontal and Vertical Mirror, Horizontal and Vertical Shift, Phase, Under/Over Scan and Aspect Ratio with this converter.

Q: 9. Will this box make it possible for BlackMagic Design ATEM inputs to be consistent and usable?

A: This does scaling from HDMI/AV to SDI. You may be facing an issue that requires Frame Rate Conversion as well and for that we recommend the Decimator MD-HX Miniature HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion, B&H # DEDDHX.https://bhpho.to/2fDbJBb

Q: 10. I would like to use a 4k HDMI in, 4K HDMI signal out to a monitor, and a HD-SDI signal out 1080i/p to a device. Will this be able to use two outputs with different resolutions?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G with Power Supply (B&H# BLMCBDSH12GP) is not designed to offer multiple signal resolutions simultaneously. The outputs would be the same in that regard whether by SDI or HDMI.

[NTSC, PAL] This Elvid Video Converter is one of those tools that makes your production life so much easier. If you work with SDI equipment but need to integrate HDMI signals, this little guy is a lifesaver. I love how simple it is, just plug in your HDMI source, and boom, it converts the signal to two SDI outputs. Whether you're sending video to a monitor, switcher, or both, it gets the job done without any fuss.

For live events, studio work, or any situation where you need to convert from HDMI to SDI, it’s been super reliable. And the best part is, it supports up to 1080p60, so you're getting really crisp, broadcast-quality video. I’ve used it with my camera and even hooked it up to my computer when I needed to send video to an SDI workflow. It handles both like a pro.

One thing I really appreciate is how compact and sturdy it is. The metal body gives it that extra durability, so I don’t have to worry about it getting damaged when I’m transporting gear. And there is flexibility for power options. It comes with an AC adapter if you have access to a wall outlet. but can be also be powered from a computer or device with a 5V USB output. It’s great to have that choice depending on your setup.

Honestly, for anyone looking to bridge the gap between HDMI and SDI, this converter is a solid, hassle-free solution. It’s small, reliable, and just works. It's exactly what you need when you’re on the go or in the studio. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

[NTSC, PAL] PC/MAC VGA-BMD ATEM SDI BNC translator. This is exactly what I needed to integrate a PC output into the ATEM video mixer wanting 1080i. The key is the scanner/scaler and not just a media converter. Just wish the Syner-G tool could be run on a Mac which our studio is predominately composed of.

[2.9 lb] Was tasked with getting various HD signals from a TV truck to the court side monitors for college basketball broadcasts. Initially had a budget throw down HD-DA's, but the cable length could be over 300 feet and the signal was intermittently dropping out. Installed the SC2030 and watched the signal clean up. Apparently, it is a reclocker, although not advertised as one. I have to deal with 720p59.94, 1080i59.94 and 1080p59.94 broadcasts. This UDC easily accepted these signals and I have set the Dips to 1080i59.94 to feed the Time Out Coordinator's monitors. The Eye Pattern of the signals is excellent with very little jitter detected.

Normally, I would have purchased Decimater UDC's, but they are back ordered. I took a chance, since this is just monitor feeds and I am thrilled. I will buy more, if I need to feed monitors. They accept SDI and HDMI and output 2 x SDI and 1 HDMI. It's a budget swiss army knife converter. Good to have in your kit...because you never know when you'll have a flaky signal to clean up!

[0.7 lb (0.3 kg)] I use seven of these to convert my IMAG production switcher HD/SDI output to HDMI/DVI input on projectors 550 feet away. The L.E.D. indicators are great for fast troubleshooting and signal confirmation. The dual re-clocked & EQ'ed SDI outputs make cascading the HD/SDI signal easy. Since it automatically adapts to the SDI input signal, I can switch between SD & HD formats seamlessly. I haven't needed to use the 3G SDI format yet but it's good to know it can handle that too.

[NTSC, PAL] Used these devices to successfully convert SDI content from a Blackmagic ATEM switcher to several HDMI displays. Initial use of Blackmagic SDI/HDMI converters was not successful because the Blackmagic device did not convert the 59.94Hz refresh rate to 60Hz. The Gefen Scaler/Converter is able to do this. One note: You MUST change the Blackmagic ATEM to Level A output from its default Level B. This is on the General Configuration tab.

[2.9 lb] The Elvid 3G-SDI to HDMI Micro Video Converter is one of those pieces of gear you don’t realize you need until you do. It’s such a convenient tool for anyone working with SDI equipment but needing to connect to HDMI gear like monitors or computers. I’ve used it to convert SDI signals from a camera to my HDMI monitor, and it’s super easy...just plug in, and you're good to go. It has worked flawlessly for me.

What I appreciate most is how versatile it is. It supports up to 1080p60, so I’m getting crisp, broadcast-quality video every time. Plus, the SDI loop output is a fantastic bonus, letting me retain the option to still send out the signal SDI and not only HDMI. Whether you’re working with a 2nd monitor that is SDI or another SDI device, it keeps everything running smoothly.

The power options are also a nice plus. If I’m somewhere with an AC outlet, it comes with an adapter. Or I can run it off my computer’s USB port, or any other device with a 5V USB output It’s nice to have that flexibility, especially on location. And speaking of locations, the compact and durable metal design makes it super portable. I can toss it in my gear bag without worrying about it getting banged up. And I love that it has a little blue light to let you know it is receiving power and is on. That is good information to have, especially when on location.

For anyone dealing with both SDI and HDMI setups and gear, this little converter is a must-have. It’s reliable, compact, and makes switching between SDI and HDMI workflows a breeze. It’s been a handy addition to my kit for my productions. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
