Electro-harmonix Battalion Bass Preamp Di Pedal

Electro-harmonix Battalion Bass Preamp Di Pedal
  • Product Code: eq44702
  • Availability: In Stock

$418.08 $656.39

The Battalion from Electro-Harmonix is an all-analog bass preamp and DI pedal designed to deliver the processors and functions most commonly used by bassists in live sound and recording. In addition to the preamp and DI, it offers distortion, equalization, compression, and gating.

A selectable 10 dB pad allows you to avoid input clipping, a common concern when using basses with active pickups. The built-in DI box has an XLR output with variable level. The XLR output can follow the bypass status or remain active even when the pedal is bypassed. The EQ has four bands with fixed frequencies. The distortion circuit provides multiple routing options and controls, plus a dedicated on/off footswitch. Separate 1/4” outputs allow simultaneous routing of dry and processed signals. Activate the ground-lift switch to minimize hum from ground loops.

The Battalion features true bypass switching. Its LEDs indicate on/off status for compressor, distortion, and bypass functions. Power is supplied via the included 9.6 VDC adapter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the accuracy of the range finder?

A: The accuracy of the Barska 8x30 WP Battalion Binocular range finder has not been published by the manufacturer.

Q: 2. This preamp have warranty?

A: This mic preamp comes with a five year, transferable warranty from Grace Design.

Q: 3. Does it require any additional software?

A: Software CD included with this product.

Q: 4. Does the compass show mils or degrees?

A: The embedded compass for the Barska 8x30 WP Battalion Binoculars with Internal Rangefinder (BH # BA8X30BWPB) is demarcated in degrees.

Q: 5. is this worth it even if the turntable has built in preamp?

A: If your turntable has a built-in phono preamp, then this pre is not required. The benefit to using an external phono preamp is usually based in the coloring of the sound it brings to the output of the record. External phono preamps of good quality, such as this, can offer more depth and clarity to the audio signal. As well, the cartridge impedance selector on this device can help you get the most out of the cartridge used.

Q: 6. is this power supply dual voltage and hrtz?

A: Based on what we can tell, this power supply would be dual voltage and dual hertz.

Q: 7. Are the input and output impedances in this description correct? They're backwards from other the other Bellari preamp, and mismatched for common turntable cartridges as far as I can tell, but exactly backwards so I bought something else. I wanted this one, but since the company did not respond to my question, I did not buy one. Maybe someone has one and can test it.

A: Yes. The listed input and impedances of: Input: 47 K ohm (high impedance) and Output: 32 ohms(low impedance) These are the correct specs and typical (though the output impedance is lower than most phono pre-amps.

Q: 8. Will this boost an XLR signal a further distance? I have a cable run of ~250ft and am trying to assure that I don't lose a signal.

A: The Rolls Mini-Mic Preamp is not really designed for boosting signal on a long cable run. For ~250 feet, you should use high quality shielded audio cables to avoid signal loss and if you do need to increase the gain without adding noise, you might want to try the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator (B&H # CLCL1) which improves signal-to-noise ratio and improves the performance of passive microphone signals by driving stronger, cleaner signals over longer XLR cable runs.

Q: 9. Hi I have apollo twin x (Quad) and i have buy preamp GRACE m101 . Should I have Converter between these two equipment? If yes What is it the best converter for voiceover and for this equipment??

A: A converter is not necessary. Simply come out of the 1/4-inch TRS balanced output to the 1/4-inch portion of the combo input of the Apollo Twin X Quad. It is important to send the signal into the Apollo as a line level signal, to take advantage of the Grace preamp.. A Pearstone PM-TRS 1/4" TRS Male to 1/4" TRS Male Interconnect Cable (6'),BH #PEPMTRS06 would be a good choice for a balanced cable.

Q: 10. When we record with Audacity it only records one side of the speaker on both tracks, ignoring the other side, meaning it is not stereo and only one side of the track can be heard. What is the problem, usb cable or usb output port from the preamp?

A: Check your computer settings - assuming Windows, go to Control Panel-Hardware and Sound-Sound-Recording. Select the USB Audio CODEC and click Properties, then Advanced. Make sure the Default Format is 2-channel. I do this every time I want to record something - most times the setting will be remembered, but every so often it will revert to 1-channel. Very annoying if I've recorded 5 albums before I notice!

[True bypass] The EHX series of organ pedals are a breath of fresh air in an industry that seems content recycling the same basic stompbox designs. You can get a wide range of sounds that go from subtle organ texture to bizarre voicings. Having a dry signal out is fantastic for players like me (bass) who want to keep an uneffected signal to my bass rig. Meanwhile I can run the organ sounds into a separate amp and/or series of pedals and tweak to taste. I'm not sure I'll use it in a live setting much, but its a blast to record and play with.

[1 x 1/4"] This is the best delay / slap-back echo / mod machine I've ever heard. There are versatile sounds for every need, with responsive controls to dial in the perfect effect. Plus, the secret secondary controls make this even more customizable. The looper is lots of fun, though might be a little difficult to pull off live onstage. Basically, if you're looking for a versatile delay, with some added modular swirly/shimmery sounds and a looper thrown in for good measure, stop reading this and buy this pedal. Just be prepared to sit in front your amp and enjoy exploring the sounds this pedal provides, for hours! Highly recommended!

[2.195 lb] Easy to get classic overdrive and muddy modern tones. Somewhat lead tones can be achieved by pushing mids with a tube overdrive pedal or eq. Great pedal overall.

[1.2 lb / 0.5 kg] First of all, this pedal has so many features and applications. Four different octaves, attack, and low-pass filter (I don't use the detune much, but others probably would get some mileage out of it), plus a built-in presets footswitch. One note: if you are powering your pedalboard with a dedicated pedal power supply, only certain combinations of power supply and pedals will work if you include the POG2. Do some research online if you already have a pedal power supply or if you will add one in the future. Even though this was a special delivery order and not something that B&H carries in stock, B&H delivered very quickly.

[2.195 lb] Best chorus I've played. Limited range but sounds so good. The modern 9v plug is a bonus.

[1 x 1/4"] I got the last one in stock (time to reorder, B&H!) and I can see why... the Mel9 pedal adds a completely new vibe to any electric guitar setup. It's very dynamic and responsive, only slightly losing track with very soft notes. Send the dry out to one amp, and the effect out to another (or the sound board) and your sound palette gets very big very quickly. Like everyone else probably did, I immediately dialed in the flute sound and learned Strawberry Fields Forever, but it doesn't stop there. Strings, cello, orchestra and choir sounds are super-fun and very authentic - even down to the warbly tape sound. One thing I'm considering is putting an EQ pedal on Mel9 as its sounds can be a little harsh in the midrange. Dial that back, add some reverb, set the attack and decay at about 1 o'clock, and you have a string pad like keyboard players have always enjoyed - at a fraction of the cost of MIDI guitar synth. Play around with pickup settings too, as the effect sound definitely responds differently to neck vs. bridge pickups. Playing speed is also a factor... most of the sounds take a little time to bloom, so staccato, rapid picking probably won't let the sounds fully develop. But for adding a huge layer and vintage texture to your sound, the Mel9 is where it's at. I can't wait to try it on bass guitar too. This one will be used a lot.

[True bypass] Yes, this pedal is pretty cool! I particularly like the orchestra and choir voices, though the rest are interesting too. I got it, added it to my pedal board, and tried it out at a gig. Audience members were looking around trying to figure out where all the orchestral sounds were coming from. My bandmates thought it was hilarious that our scrappy garage band suddenly had this new big production sound.
