Keep your eyes on the skies with the DayStar Filters Eclipse Orchestrator Pro 3.7 Camera Softwarefrom DayStar Filters. This helpful program ensures that you don't miss the solar eclipse, the transit of Mercury or Venus, or any other big astronomical event because you were too focused on getting the settings and composition just right on your Canon or Nikon DSLR. It takes care of this work for you, freeing you up to enjoy the experience fully.

Using a USB or Firewire cable, connect your camera to a laptop running Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or 10. Enter your latitude and longitude coordinates, or connect an NMEA 0183-compatible GPS, and the software will automatically determine the local conditions and make calculations based on them. The program was first developed for the 2002 total solar eclipse, and since then, has been used around the world.

Eclipse Orchestrator Pro features a script wizard that allows you to pre-program exposures, indicating when you would like each one to occur and which settings you would like selected for each. All actions of the camera can be timed to line up with specific phases of the event you're observing, so that all you need to do during the actual eclipse or transit is sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. All features of Orchestrator Pro are optional, so you can use the program for as much or as little as you would like.

The software is delivered on a CD and shipped in a standard retail box, along with a USB installation memory stick and a license key.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If using 67 mm lens which one is better to use 65-89, or 50-69?

A: My selection would be for the smaller, DayStar Filters 50mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter (Single, 50-69mm OD) BH #DAULF50 • MFR #ULF50

Q: 2. What is the difference between a tuned for prominences and a chromosphere filter? Is there one of them that does both better? How do I choose?

A: No, two different condition. The chromosphere is the sun's surface. The prominence is viewing sun flairs around the perimeter of the sun. .

Q: 3. Will this work on an Orion Astroview 120ST (600mm, f/5)? If so, will I need any additional adapters or extension tubes (for focusing)? Thank you.

A: The DayStar Filters QUARK H-Alpha Eyepiece Solar Filter (Prominence) BH #DADSZ4P • MFR #DSZ4P simply inserts into 1.25" or 2" diagonals and accepts 1.25" eyepieces. This design enables the use of nighttime telescopes for solar viewing. In addition to the tunable H-alpha filter, the Quark also functions as a 4.3x Barlow lens, with a 2-element lens system designed to be telecentric which flattens the field of view and reduces parallax, and optical coatings that are optimized for the 656nm H-alpha wavelength.

Q: 4. will this work with an ED80T CF Triplet telescope?

A: Just got mine last week and got great views on my old SV AT1010 80mm f6 achro. Just saw black at first then, per the instructions, turned the tuning dial 2 clicks clockwise. In a few minutes i was seeing great chromo and proms as well. I got the front mount uv/ir blocker as i will be using it on a larger scope as well. You won't get a full disc view though because the focal length is greater than 450

Q: 5. What do I need to use this with my Canon 5D M4?

A: This is to fit Canon SLR and DLSR bodies. You do not need anything extra for a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

Q: 6. I only have a viewfinder on my Nikon D3300. I assume I need to have my solar Glasses on as well as the camera solar filter?

A: Once the filter is secure you can look through the viewfinder. If you wear your glasses and have the filter you won't be able to see anything through it anyway.

Q: 7. I have a 24-120 mm using a 77 mm filter. The lens hood diameter is 110 mm. Should I use the lens hood during the eclipse?

A: It is a matter of opinion but I would recommend using the hood always. Even if the sun is directly in the frame and the hood cannot stop the flares, the hood still provides safety protection in case the camera is dropped. Since the Daystar filter is not large enough for the hood, this screw on ND filter can be used for solar protection instead: https://bhpho.to/2m7h8oX

Q: 8. Will I need this to take picture of the eclipse with my Sony A99?

A: Absolutely! All cameras risk (will sustain) light sensor damage when imaging the Sun without a proper filter with the exception of the 2 minutes or so of totality of a total eclipse. This only takes place in the ribbon of totality which during the upcoming Aug. 21st event will be only 70 miles or so wide and at very specific times per location.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with Nikon z or Nikon F ?

A: The DayStar Filters Camera Quark H-Alpha Solar Filter for Nikon (Prominence) will work with Nikon F mount lenses,

Q: 10. What size should I get for Canon 70-200?

A: If you go to Daystar website or call them on the phone, I think that is where I read that if you have the 77MM pro lens, meaning it is 77MM in diameter then get the 65 - 89 Solar filter. I have the 70-200 F2.8 non IS lens. I did not put it on yet.

[0.35 lb] Why spend more, especially with the cloud coverage we had??!! There were perfect for the occasion!! Also great was the pre-sale customer service department!! Not only did B & H have an eclipse hotline set up, the people who answered that line were extremely helpful!!! No time on hold either. Only negative was the disproportionate FedEx charge for such a lightweight item.
