Q: 2. Is the surface layer fabric or a hard material?

Q: 3. Hi!, I have an Alesis DM5 module, can I trigger sounds from Samplepad 4 connecting my DM5 via MIDI?, I would like to expand the trigger inputs using the DM5 with the sounds of the Samplepad 4

A: The SamplePad 4 does not have MIDI in or out. You would be able to do this with the Alesis SamplePad Pro.

Q: 4. Is there replacement glide pads ?

A: No, I have not needed to replace anything. We purchased 4 of them. I just clean the underside with a cleaning wipe, when needed. Any residue is removed and it continues to work with no issue.

Q: 5. Can this be connected to the MIC IN of a video camera to record the tweaked audio (with video)?

A: You could use a line-to-mic attenuator cable to take the output from the headphone jack on the Roland AIRA Compact E-4 Voice Tweaker and connect it to the mic input on the camera. You can use the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON), which has a built-in headphone tap to monitor the audio. To extend the length, you can use a standard aux cable like the Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Male Cable - 10' (B&H # HOSMMSMM10) in any length you prefer.

[3.71 lb] This is the best Drum Pad Ive ever seen or used.
Simplicity makes it great....no menu (no aggravation)...reverb/distortion, volume, tuning, and selection knobs...and a little button that will give you an alternate sound to each setting.
Its almost like analog and fun to use...and its currently not all that expensive.
A mono output on the back panel and a stereo headphones out - also on the back panel - (which I use to connect to a mixer with a 1/4 TRS to Double !/4 TRS Cable).
It solves a lot of percussion problems - if you lack a drummer at times or all the time.

[Trig indicator] I bought this for my son who is a drummer. He LOVES it- says that he can probably ditch his full drum kit and just use this for many of his smaller gigs where there is not enough room for his full set. The sounds are amazing and the pad sensitivity is spot on. Great product for the $300!

[22] Tones are good but you will need to shape the sounds with EQ to really make them sound amazing.  This product really it really shines in smaller venues as the kick drum’s stage noise is non-existent and I (FOH engineer) now have total control of the volume in my main speakers and monitors.  Sitting and using this unit works great but standing and just tapping it with your foot can become quite tiring after a 4-minute song and really stress your ankle.  The best solution for this is to have your heel elevated and to strike the pad with a semi-hard/rigid object.  I’ve found it works best when the band is wearing wood soled or stiff rubber bottomed dress shoes or boots.  This gives just right amount of elevation to your heels to strike the pad without a ton of effort from the ankle.   Tennis shoes just don’t work that great.  Also, you’ll need a good bit of gain for the pad to really be at a rockin’ volume especially in larger venues so it may help to use a preamp before gong into your PA or FOH console.  All that said, I would sill highly recommend this product to anyone!

[3.71 lb] Bought this to try and liven up my acoustic duo sound. It doesn't disappoint.
The pad is sensitive enough to only have to tap lightly. Its something I do anyway but now I have a little bit of kick drum in the mix....

[2 lb (900 g)] I have tried all matter of compact electronic drum. This is hands down the best. If you want more of a sampler, get the SPD-S. If you want a reliable, gig ready, mini-drum set with realistic sounds, get this. Yes, there are many cheaper options out there. But, if you're a serious musician, you get what you pay for. You can augment this pad in a plethora of ways. I use Wavedrum for my snare when playing live. I have used and acoustic snare and hi-hat in the past. I always use the KD-7 trigger for my kick sounds. Basically, you're someone who plays out often or you just want the best sounding pad on the market, I would highly recommend the SPD-30. Don't waste the hours of research I did checking out other options. Get the Octopad.
