Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the surveillance earpiece connection a Kenwood connection?

A: Although the Midland BR200 radios use a two-prong connector that is visually similar to a Kenwood connector, Midland does not refer to it as such and only guarantees compatibility with Midland accessories such as the BA2 and BA3.

Q: 2. can you add more radios to talk to ?

A: You are able to add unlimited radios to communicate.

Q: 3. Can all 6 radios be on the same channel at the same time communicating with each other?

A: Yes, that works. The choice of alternate channels would be for separate, "private" conversattion

Q: 4. How do you set and un set VOX mode ?

A: There is no VOX mode available on these radios.

Q: 5. does it have a headphone plug ?

A: there is a headset connection on the LXT500VP3 and is compatible with 2 prong Midland headsets. a href= http://bhpho.to/1uo7Qk2 target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1uo7Qk2/a

Q: 6. The page says that these are UHF radios and that a license is required, while midland's website says they are licence-free FRS radios. Is the description here up to date?

A: There is no license needed for these radios. I will have the site corrected. Thank you for pointing out the error.

Q: 7. Can the battery be replaced/swapped out in the field?

A: Unfortunately not, the internal battery for the Midland GXT67 Pro GMRS Two-Way Radio is not user replaceable.

Q: 8. Could a PTT headset w/ 2 pin connector be used with this radio?

A: Yes, you can use a compatible PTT 2-pin headset with the LXT633VP3 radios such as the Midland AVP-H3 Surveillance Headset - Pair (B&H # MIAVPH3) or Midland AVP-1 Single-Ear Boom Mic Headset for Extra-Talk and G-Series - Pair (B&H # MIAVP1MID).

Q: 9. The FCC authorizes 22 channels for FRS and GRMS. A small number of radios provide an additional 8 GMRS repeater channels. Does this radio provide repeater channels? In any case, where does the 38 channel figure come from?

A: The T77VP5 is an FRS radio and does not have repeater channels. The additional channels (23-38) are channels with hard-coded privacy codes attached to them. The manual provides more detailed information.

Q: 10. What is the transmit power watts ?

A: The T77VP5 is rated a little under 2 watts, so it can be sold into Canada as well as the US.

[22] I got these for Christmas and had planned mostly to use them out in cottage country where cel reception is spotty. Used them when I was ice fishing and walking the dogs to communicate with my wife back at the cottage. Actual range in dense forest was about 1 mile, but on the lake ice fishing, I had perfect communications and did not reach their range. I even lost one while traversing a rough ice patch (fell and lost it) and found it 3 hours later after getting the other walkie and using the call feature! It survived a 3 hour freeze below a few layers of broken ice and snow at -11°C and still worked beautifully. Very happy with them!

[Screw-On] Bought six sets for our Audubon group to use on car field trips -- to report sightings to each other. One field trip included some little kids and they had a great time using the walkie-talkies "copy that." That gave me the idea to buy some as holiday gifts.

[38] I've used many models of Midland "hand-helds" over the years and have never been disappointed because each model seems to be slightly improved.

[0.61 lb] These are the clearest sounding, easy-to-use two-way radios I've ever owned. The radios are simple yet have critical features: clear point-to-point communication, weather alert function, and ease of use. As with may radios, this one benefits from alkaline batteries more than the rechargeable ones. The alkaline batteries last much longer.

[0.61 lb] We gave this item to our grandchildren because their backyard is over 100 acres of woods and stream. They are using them and have a wonderful time exploring. They are ages 14,12 and 10 years. Great gift.

[Screw-On] I bought this radio to use when out trail riding. They are great little radios, have a strong signal with a ton of channels. They also hold a battery for a long time as well. I’d highly recommend getting a set.
