The 27W, 120V ALZO CFL Photo Light Bulb 27W 120Vfrom ALZO CFL Photo Light Bulb 27W 120Vis a spiral, compact fluorescent lamp with a daylight-balanced color temperature of 5500K and an output of 1,300 lumens. The lamp has a high CRI rating of 91 indicating accurate color rendition that makes it a good choice for photography, videography or general use. The lamp generates very little heat and is flicker-free up to 1,000 frames per second. It has a 10,000-hour lamp life and will fit all medium-base E26/E27 sockets.

Q: 9. tried getting this from adorama. pitiful packing. 2 loose small pieces of bubblewrap thrown in box. of course came broken. do you order from same supplier? if so how can you guarantee light will not be broken? thank you

A: Our shipping department packs the items we carry with the utmost care to prevent items from being damaged during transit. However, there may be unforeseen events that may cause an item to inadvertently become damaged during transit, or a defective item may be shipped to us from the manufacturer (as we do not open new items from manufacturers to ensure the items are received in the same condition as received from the manufacturer, we cannot check for defective items prior to shipment). Q: 10. Can I put those CFLs on dimmers?

A: Unfortunately, these bulbs are non-dimmable.

[117 V] This 45w bulb is perfect for a little extra bump of light while on video calls. Plus I have left it on for hours and it doesn't heat up the room. 5

[0.305 lb] This thing is big, really BIG. I'm using two of them in a DIY adapter for a 28x39 softbox and they are plenty bright. Very even lighting (no need for the inner diffuser) They are mounted almost parallel to the front of the box on the long axis. They get warm but I have been leaving the access zipper open, and facing up, and haven't had an overheating problem. Good CRI and reasonable priced. Only have 30 hours on them so far. 5

[27 W] Its simple bright and cool. It generates very little heat. I use it in a soft box.Just screwed it in to a regular receptacle and it put out enough light for my video. 5

[1,300] This is a good bulb if your building your first lighting setup. I'm using them with a softbox and a honeycomb. The honeycomb, similar to barn doors, allows you to focus the light in a general direction without leaking light to places you don't want the light to go or bounce. Makes a huge difference. Some tips: Use c-stands + weight bags, not 3-legged stands. 3-legged stands can tip over easy, take up more room, people can trip over them, and can't be weighed down. Use a socket with a fuse. These get hot. Ventilate. Do not leave unattended. Make sure all your lights in a socket have the same color temp. They last a long time provided you handle them with care. They have mercury, so don't break them and dispose of them properly. 5

[0.305 lb] Just reordered eight of these. Purchased last set in 2010, as studio lights for product photography and video production. Long lasting. Quality light. Accurate color temp. If you use constant light source for photo or video these are the best bulbs out there. Durability depends on handling over time. Keep the boxes they come in. Repack and store in said boxes with included bubble wrap for years of use. 5

[CFL fluorescent] Please disregard my prior review as I posted it before I shot a video with them. I have five of these in my kitchen's recessed light fixtures. These are large. The spiraled tube is thicker and longer, thus sticks out of the light fixture a bit. They are definitely bright white. Along with the Alzo 45W bulbs used in our soft light boxes, we have plenty of daylight white for our videos. This was the first set of videos my wife did not need to color correct, just had to modify brightness/contrast a little. Much improved over using a mix of the warmer light bulbs. 5
