This black, compact MM-PSM Pro Omnidirectional Earset Mic for Lectrosonics (Black, TA5F)delivers clear spoken-word and vocal reproduction for presenters and performers working in music, theatrical, broadcast, house of worship, lecture, and presentation settings. It comes with a TA5F connector that plugs into select Lectrosonics bodypack transmitters.

The MM-PSM Pro Series earset features a 3mm capsule mounted on a short 3.4' boom that can be discreetly positioned away from the mouth for an unobtrusive fit. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Generally speaking, how do the specs (and sound) of this mic compare with those of the Senal UTM-86? Thanks.

A: The Lectrosonics M152/5P offers excellent quality and is highly preferred for commercial applications.

Q: 2. Looking at this, the Countyman B6 and the Sanken COS-11D for a documentary I'm doing for a hospital in a small African country this summer. I know the B6 and 11D are highly regarded, but given the $ and my need for 2-3 mics while paying for them out-of-pocket, I want to find the best bang-for-buck without sacrificing a lot in sound quality. My big question before trying it is, how is the self-noise and handling-noise on this unit? Thx in advance.

A: The Microphone Madness MM-MSLM is an excellent microphone for the money, relatively quiet, and not too bad on the handling noise. You may want to pick up some hush lav quieting sleeves (used with the sanken lavs) to better isolate the microphone from rustling noise. Also, please not the microphone requires power via bias voltage; 1 to 9 VDC.

Q: 3. Is there a vampire clip for the Lectrosonics M152 lav mic?

A: Yes there is. The vampire clip for the Lectrosonics lav is actually the same one that works on the Tram. B&H # TRBCH.

Q: 4. Has anyone used this cable to feed the stereo out on the MIXPRE to a Lectrosonics SPDR to use as a backup recorder?

A: Feeding the Lectrosonics SPDR Stereo Portable Digital Recorder from the 3.5mm Stereo output of a Sound Devices MixPre Series recorder is an excellent application for the Remote Audio Unbalanced Adapter Cable 3.5mm RA to TA5F for Stereo Outputs into Lectrosonics Transmitters.

Q: 5. How does this compare to Countryman EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Digital Recorders?

A: The Countryman is going to have a bit more high frequency clarity, and can also handle much higher SPL.

Q: 6. Is the 1/8 inch jack straight or a right angle?

A: It is at a right angle.

Q: 7. Will this cable work between the Mozegear D-Mini Papi Red Version and the RED DSMC2 I/O V Lock Expander?

A: You would need to check your components for these connections:Connector 11/8 (3.5 mm) right angle TRS mini-jackConnector 2TA5FIf you are looking to connect a microphone , then this might work, depending upon the pin configuration of your microphone.

Q: 8. Does this cable split the signal coming from the TA5F into stereo left right, or is it a mono down mix?

A: The PSC Locking 3.5mm TRS to TA5F Cable for Lectrosonics PDR (6"), BH # PSC1134, may be used to record a stereo (left and right) signal going into the Lectrosonics PDR TA5M's stereo input.

Q: 9. What are people using to mount these, and to minimize clothing noise?

A: It's really more about where you are mounting these rather than about what you are mounting it with.I use basic Rycote Undercovers as the sticky element and then I find a dead spot under the subject's clothing.

Q: 10. Does this version have the locking (screw-on) 3.5mm jack? Such as for a Sennheiser G3, or DR-10L?

A: No, this microphone has a non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector for use with a recorder, camera or a device with a standard mic input. We do offer the omnidirectional Microphone Madness Lavalier Mic for Select Sennheiser Systems in black (B&H # MIPSMLSRBL) or beige (B&H # MIPSMLSRBE) as a special order item. We do have a selection of other mics that are compatible with Sennheiser transmitters and the DR-10L. [Plug-In Power] I use this mic for wedding and event videos. The sound is incredibly clear and does not pick up a lot of extraneous noise, such as rubbing against clothing etc. Nice integrated clip and mic. No worries about the clip coming lose from the wire.

[Black] I use these in a performing arts center with a Sennheiser wireless system. They work so much better than lavaliere mics, due to their closer proximity to the mouth. Hardly any EQ is needed to get them sounding loud and present. Their tiny size truly makes them nearly invisible on stage. I have used these for years and keep buying them, despite other options that have cropped up in the last few years, Countryman has given me no reason to switch.
