Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will these mics work with Canon Vixia camcorders? What is the best wired mic for use with these canon vixia camcorders?

A: Canon Vixia camcorders are not able to supply power to mics that require it such as the Azden EX-503. You will need to use a mic that is able to supply its own power which is generally by a battery. The Polsen OLM-10 is one example which features a small battery inline.

Q: 2. does this mic require 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic is designed to be used with body pack wireless transmitters that supply 2-10 vdc.

Q: 3. Good afternoonI have an old Sony-urx-p1-utx-b1 kit, but has lost my lavalier.Does this Azden lavalier work on my kit?RegardsJonny PedersenThe Steadicam Operaotr

A: It is very unlikely the Azden EX-503 will work with your UTX-B1. The connector on the Sony transmitter is a locking 3.5mm screw connector. The Azden is not, also the wiring may be different. The lav normally used as a replacement would be the Sony ECM-77BMP.

Q: 4. Can this mic work with 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic requires plug-in power, which is 2 to 10 VDC.

Q: 5. Will this mic work with the packs for Pyle PDWM8900?

A: The cable connector is not compatible with the Pyle PDWM8900.

Q: 6. Is ex503h mic compatible with sony WRT820A?

A: I am afraid not. The Azden employs a 4-pin mini Hirose Your bodypack uses SONY's proprietary SMC9-4P connector. The pin-assignment may be different:Pin 1: +5 voltsPin 2: HotPin 3: ColdPin 4: Ground

Q: 7. I have Sony's ECM-AW4 Wireless Microphone. Will this mic work with this system?

A: The ECM-AW4 does not seem to have a 3.5mm microphone input, which it would need in order to use our EX-503 lav mic. Consult your manual or contact Sony to be sure.

Q: 8. Will this work with my Boya Wireless Mic system?

A: It should swork with any wireless transmitter that has the right type of connector. Look carefully at the picture and see if the plug at the end of the cable looks like it would fit the jack on your body pack.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Cannon Rebel T7i?

A: Hello. The mic would only come through in the left channel since you'd be plugging a MONO mic into a STEREO input. To have this wire direct into the camera, your best option would be to get a 3.5mm mono to mono cable extension and a 3.5mm mono to stereo adapter.

Q: 10. will it work with a zoom?

A: The EX-503 will be compatible with devices that have a 3.5mm mic input jack and are able to supply plug in power to the mic. This includes the Zoom H1, H2 and H4N recorders.

[Plug-In Power] I have been using these microphones for over 20 years in my wedding videography business. They are dependable and durable which is important in this business. There are higher priced alternatives, which I have tried and for the cost difference, 99% of my clients would never know the difference. So I buy these and the money saved allows me to buy other gear. Don't let the low price fool you, these in my opinion are just fine for my market and use.

[Beige] I bought three of the EX-503L lav microphones to replace three older ones I had, two since 2009 and one since 2012. They'd been used a lot, and it comes as no surprise that clients aren't always gentle with the videographer's gear.

They'd been tugged at, knotted up, you name it through the years. Recently, I'd noticed a drop in quality of the audio I was getting from my wireless units.

Replacing the microphones seems to have fixed the problems. I had an all day long corporate shoot where I used all three of my Azden UHF units going into a Zoom H6. The audio was nice and clean. I'm very pleased with the performance of the EX-503L mics.

[Plug-In Power] It's an in-expensive solution to capturing spoken audio. Best use for this unit is spoken work capture for example a groom lavaliere at a wedding. I wouldn't use this for high fidelity capture but, that is not what it's intended for. Actually, I would't use a lavaliere mic for high fidelity audio any way.
