The Tenba Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 Travel Casefrom Tenba Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 Travel Caseis a rolling camera case that is designed to be stylish, meet the carry-on requirements for most international as well as US airlines, and includes an integrated harness that allows it to be worn as a backpack. Crafted using a thoughtful design and minimal branding, the Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 features a distinctive appearance without drawing unwanted attention to the equipment inside.

A large, main compartment with adjustable dividers can hold a complete kit for many photographers, while the interior of the main compartment lid features four, clear mesh panels for easy identification of their contents. The Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 can fit two, gripped DSLR camera bodies with a 400mm f/2.8 lens or eight to ten smaller lenses, along with flashes and accessories.

Together with the adjustable dividers, a removable insert is provided that can also help partition equipment inside the Roadie Hybrid Roller 21. Upon reaching one's destination, the insert is transferable to a separate shoulder bag or backpack to further cushion a camera, plus two to three lenses for on-the-go use. When used with a separately-available Tenba Tools Packlite Travel Bag for BYOB 10, the removable insert installs with a precise fit.

On the rear of the Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 is a zippered compartment that contains its integrated, backpack harness. When encountering rough or especially uneven surfaces, as well as long flights of stairs, the backpack harness can be quickly deployed for easier travel. The backpack harness is also useful when simultaneously traveling with other bags that need to be moved or carried by hand. Additionally, an integrated add-a-bag strap consolidates other luggage along the front of the Roadie Hybrid Roller 21 for easy transport of multiple carry-ons through airports, hotels, or parking lots.

Aside from being able to comfortably hold photo gear, the case's zippered front pocket organizer provides storage for pens, business cards, passports, airplane tickets, as well as small electronics, and features a padded sleeve with an interior divider for most 17" laptops. The laptop sleeve is positioned so that its contents can be readily accessed, whether for faster processing through airport security or to maximize work-related productivity during travel. Four handles are included for flexibility while transporting or moving the case, a two-stage telescoping top handle, a leather-trimmed non-telescoping top handle, a side handle, and a bottom handle that makes it easier to pick up and place the case into airplane overhead bins or into car trunks.

For peace-of-mind in crowded settings, a built-in TSA-approved combination lock secures the main compartment zipper. To chain the case to an immovable object such as a pole, an integrated, braided-steel side cable is included along with an additional TSA-approved combination lock.

A honeycomb internal frame with nylon construction throughout provides the bag with a high degree of weather resistance and overall durability, which is further complemented by wheel housings that help protect the reinforced corners of the case from impacts to escalators and curbs. A rain cover is included for even more protection from the elements should the need arise, and if they wear out over time, the wheels, wheel housings, foot stands, and telescoping top handle are user-replaceable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Roadie 21 have the straps to hold the lid open?

A: Yes, the Tenba Roadie Air Case Roller 21 has straps to hold the lid open.

Q: 2. Is this carry on size? or would it need to be checked-in?

A: This is definitely not carry-on size. However, all the Roadie 18 and 21 models are carry-on size.

Q: 3. Anyone had any trouble carrying this on a flight?

A: While the Tenba Roadie Roller 21 dimensions do not exceed the average carry-on size of 22 x 14 x 9", certain airlines have differing requirements for carry-on sizes.

Q: 4. What is difference between Tenba Rodie roller 21 Temba rodie 21 hybrid and Tenba rodie roller air case? I cant find any details anywhere ? I am looking for a roller bag to carry 2 full frame bodies 500mm F4 300mm F4 TC couple of small lenses? At the same time I can take the roller as carry on or check in without worrying about damage to my expensive equipment

A: They all have the same exterior dimensions and are international carry-on compatible. The Roadie 21 and Hybrid 21 have the same rigid construction and are nearly identical. The Roadie 21 has a pocket for a battery on the back, and the Hybrid has backpack straps. That is the only difference. Both will fit a laptop in the front sleeve. The Roadie Air Case 21 is the only case of its kind in the industry. It has a super-rigid, patented wall construction that allows it to be shipped or checked as luggage, just like a typical hard case, but at a fraction of the weight. It has similar features to the other Roadies zipper lock, security cable, tripod pocket, add-a-bag strap etc. but it does not have a laptop sleeve in the front. However, not only is it the only Roadie that is checkable as luggage, it is the only case like it in the world. If you check YouTube or Vimeo or the Tenba website, you can watch a video that shows the difference between the three models. All three will fit the gear you described.

Q: 5. There's no mention of a compartment for laptop (or laptop size). Please clarify. ?

A: Because of the unique hard case that can support up to 400 pounds, it does not have a compartment for a laptop or tablet. As much as I loved the case when I received it, I ended up returning it and will get the Hybrid version instead

Q: 6. Can a ad300 pro fit vertically

A: Yes, the Godox AD300 Pro fits vertically inside of the Tenba Roadie Roller 21.

Q: 7. Is the interior of this bag tall enough to hold a speedlight upright and straightened?

A: This bag will not hold a flash upright unless the flash head is at a 90 degrees angle.

Q: 8. If you have had the bag for a year or more how has the telescoping handle held up? I have heard complaints that it is very cheap?

A: Typically the handle holds up fine over time.

Q: 9. Will a Sony FX6 with top handle and lens attached fit inside?

A: Yes, the Sony FX6 with a top handle and lens attached will fit in this case.

Q: 10. will this carry a 400mm 2.8 lens with 2 bodies with grip?

A: Yes, this should be able to accommodate your gear with the lenses detached.

[13.55 lb] This is my third rolling bag and second Tenba Roadie 21. My 1st tenba is 10 years old and finally wearing out after heavy use. I also have a Think Tank rolling bag and while it’s good, then new Tenba holds more and the quality has improved quite a bit. I can fit 2 Canon pro bodies with lenses attached, a 300 f2.8 and a 100-400 plus other wide angles lenses, batteries, charger and card cases. I love that I can fit my laptop and portable drives too! Buy this bag, you won’t be sorry.

[13.55 lb] After bidding farewell to my Pelican 1510, I eagerly embraced this new travel companion. Searching for discretion without sacrificing functionality, this bag effortlessly meets all my requirements. With a sturdy construction mirroring the versatility of my previous case, it seems tailor-made for my needs.

Upon opening, its spacious interior reveals depths seemingly endless, eagerly awaiting my gear. The organization system, utilizing padded spacers, is not only more logical but also enhances the packing experience. Every item finds its place seamlessly, creating an oasis of order within.

What truly sets this bag apart is its discretion. Locked up securely, my belongings are shielded from prying eyes as I navigate through crowds unnoticed. It provides a sense of security and peace of mind unmatched by any other.

This purchase has exceeded my expectations, offering a seamless blend of practicality and sophistication. It's the perfect companion for my travels, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

[13.55 lb] This bag is built very well. I will be using it to travel as it was a little deeper and shorter than my pelican 1510. Still offers quite a bit of robust protection while staying discreet amongst other bags. It fits plenty; two camera bodies, three lenses, external monitor, a computer if you want, and a few other accessories. Along with my backpack it fits all I need. Great buy and good price to invest in safe travel with your gear.

[13.55 lb] I am going to love this case. I finally have a roller that handles two Pro bodies and just about any combination of lenses that I need for the job as well as my drone and flashes if needed.

I had the Tenba Roadie 18 for almost 10 years. It was built like a tank, but it wasn't quite deep enough for the pro body with lens attached. It was wearing out and the Roadie Roller 21 was my logical choice. I didn't really think about another brand of case.

[13.55 lb] I own two different Cineluxe bags as well as a DNA messenger, and I love all of them, so I felt confident when I decided to purchase the Roadie Roller 21. I wanted a bag I could carry on a plane and transport my Canon R5C with some lenses and accessories. I currently used the roller with it's stock setup mostly in place, with the removable lens compartment at the bottom, but it comes with a few extra long dividers if you want to set it up without that compartment. My bag is far from stuffed and I'm sure someone could fit a lot more in the bag than I did with more rearranging. That said, I was able to fit the following - Canon R5c in Kondor Blue cage, Atomos Ninja V, 5 Osee monitor, Smallrig 50W and 99W v-mount batteries, Smallrig V-mount battery plate, LanParte Chest Pad, Tilta side handle, set of 3 Sirui Night Walker lenses, a few small auto lenses, a mini matte box, some filters, a bag of misc cables, and other tools. The roller is well-made and comes with a generous helping of dividers which Tenba always seems to do and is appreciated. Always give me more dividers than I need. I've seen complaints that the telescoping handle is flimsy, but I'm not sure what those buyers were expecting. I own a few luggage rollers with very similar handles and they have all survived for a number of years and flights with no issues. Recommended.

[13.55 lb] For some reason, Think Tank bags are everyone's go-to. Well, take it from an everyday working (and traveling) corporate shooter that the Tenba stuff is better. The ONE thing you'll appreciate day in and day out is the lid. The Tenba is hinged on the long side (better if you use a work surface like a shelf to get organized) and the lid has straps to keep it upright! The long, floppy Think Tank lid just flops over into the mud and all your stuff flies out. This one sits up straight like a gentleman. Get your pen, business cards, and filters out of the pockets easily. If you use a real bag everyday, you'll appreciate this.

[13.55 lb] This is my third Tenba camera bag, the first roller. Very, very solid product. If it was $100 less Id give it six stars - but you get what you pay for. It packs slightly smaller than the dimensions imply because of the density of the internal dividers.

[13.55 lb] - loads all my Canon lenses and body, and 17 inch laptop easily in one easy to roll bag. Built in combination lock. Fits in the overhead storage on the smaller 737 . Love it
