The Redrock Micro SLS Lens Control Motor for microRemoteis ultra-compact and lightweight, making it well suited for use with drones, gimbals, and stabilizers where every gram can make a difference. The small size and light weight gives you the option to leave it on your camera at all times. This version of the SLS motor features a standard 7-pin connector for compatibility with Redrock Micro and third-party controllers.

Belying its small size and lightweight nature, the motor is a powerhouse with three times the torque and twice the resolution of Redrock's original torque motor. The SLS motor mounts onto 15mm rods using a removable adjustable rod clamp, and Redrock Micro integrated a light into the motor for low-light lens mark visibility. A Cine standard 0.8 MOD drive gear assures that this motor can be used to drive any lens ring with Cine-standard gearing.

Q: 1. Any suggestions for Power when used with a Sony A7sii rig with no V-tap battery source? Thanks!!!

A: Hi Homer - great question! you can use with pretty much any battery that delivers 12-18v power.if you have a Freefly gimbal you can use the lipo battery on that (you'll need an additional cable). if you have a ronin gimbal, you can use the onboard p-tap for powerif you have literally no other power supply and are looking for one, we typically use powerBase - this one is pretty great because it also provides power to your sony A7a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1077507-REG/switronix_pb70_a7s_powerbase_70_battery_for.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1077507-REG/switronix_pb70_a7s_powerbase_70_battery_for.html/ayou can also use camcorder batteries with built-in p-tap that are inexpensive, like this one a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/835236-REG/Ikan_IBS_U65_IBS_U65_BP_U_Ultra_High_Capacity.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/835236-REG/Ikan_IBS_U65_IBS_U65_BP_U_Ultra_High_Capacity.html/a hope that helps. Q: 2. Does this have the LEMO FGG.0B.301 male connectors?

A: Unfortunately, Redrock Micro does not provide information on how their 7-Pin LEMO to 7-Pin LEMO flexCable is constructed. It is specifically made for use with their microRemote Torque Motor.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with canon 5d Mark III?

A: Yes, the microRemote is compatible with Canon still cameras including the 5D MK III. if you are using canon L-series lenses, you will want to make sure and get lens gears as well. A good starter kit for virtually all lens sizes is here: a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/748784-REG/Redrock_Micro_8_003_0107_microLensGears_Kit_4.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/748784-REG/Redrock_Micro_8_003_0107_microLensGears_Kit_4.html/a

Q: 4. can i use this on a devin graham glidecam and a jib? also, can you reccomend the kind of cables i need if i were to use this on a 8ft jib. thanks

A: Hi Divine - yes, it should work fine! we don't have direct experience with the glidecam, but many customers use it with steadicam, which works the same. Remember you'll need a small lightweight battery, check out our new lp-e6 battery adapter, which is about to be released (you will want to ask for part number 2-178-0001)this bundle is great for that. For a jib you'll want a longer cable, which we can make to size, but you will need to contact us at redrock micro direct for that cable. Everything else is available here.

Q: 5. Could the Letus Helix Jr power this? Can the control wheel be powered separately or does it have to go into the base station?

A: The control wheel must be connected to the base station so that not only is it powered but it's signal can be passed to the focus motor. (which also gets it's power and signal from the base station.) As to working on the Helix, we believe that there is power available for the base station. If you wish to find out which cable, please call, chat or email us at B&H. Phone 800.606.6969 or 212.444.6615 E-Mail provideo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a

Q: 8. Can this power a device which draws: 5.5W, 0.46A at 12V?

A: This device is specifically for powering the Redrock Micro microRemote System with a Canon LP-E6 style battery. It will have the proper draw for that system only and may not work with others.

Q: 9. Does this system work with the letus helix jr? Thumbwheel mounted on handle? What other accesories would be needed?

A: Hi Ross - yes works great!two recommendations:1. Letus has a power cable for the microremote, highly recommend you pick that up2. for the fingerwheel, you'll want to get the universal fingerwheel adapter to fit it to the Helix's handgrips. it is part number 2-136-0002 $85 msrp.hope that helps

Q: 10. How can you change the focus throw?? I get how to change Gain/smoothness but want to adjust the throw. At the moment, if you turn the Remote only a few millimetres it will focus the lens quite extremely. I hope that makes sense!?

A: Hi Dane - the microRemote has 270 degrees of throw which should be more than enough for almost any lens (with the exception of macro lenses that have )you can manually calibrate to a portion of the lens' throw so you can get even more granularity for shots that have limited range. If you are looking for additional support and you own a microRemote please contact our support group at support@redrockmicro.com - they can offer more assistance there. Thanks

[15 mm] SO FREAKIN TINY AND LIGHT. Dont let the size and weight fool you though, these motors pack some punch. Works with many different lenses and so easy to balance longer setups. Must have.

[4.2 oz / 120 g] This follow focus system is extremely simple to use. All you need is 2 AA batteries in the remote, and a power source for the basestation. We use this system on our RED Helium, and plug the basestation power cable into a v-mount battery on the back of the camera via the included D-tap cable. Once you connect the motor to a rail and plug it into the basestation, boom, it is up and running. Very reliable.

[0.8 MOD] The SLS Lens Motors feature a hard wire cable that plugs directly to the MoVI Pros sled. This, plus their form factor, make it an incredible lightweight perfect motor for anyone out there using primes or cine zoom glass.

Since my initial review of I have always been confident of this device and it's clearly a winner. When RedRock added the newest software improvements for the remote (Artistry) this device ROCKS!! [0.8 MOD] Redrocks microRemote is a solid, dependable unit backed by good support. I have had mine for four years. At one point, I accidentally damaged the antenna on the receiver and needed to replace it. Redrock sent me the parts either for free or for a very small charge. They have been very quick to respond to me when Ive had questions as well.

Redrock also updates the firmware periodically. The v4 update added remote calibration (so you can calibrate lenses from the remote instead of from the receiver). I cant count how many times Ive forgotten to calibrate after a lens swap and then walk away from the camera. Or if Im working with an AC, I often handle the motor gear setup and auto-calibrate for my AC. If I forget, now my AC can do it remotely. Great! The firmware is at v5 now, so that shows their commitment to providing product value.

The unit is solid and well built. Ive never had an issue with the power of the motor when using it with the Rokinon set or Canons CN-E series. The motor has a nice feathering to avoid hard focus stops. And you can crank the gain up or down.

Ive also never had a problem using it at a distance, but the remote is usually pretty close to the receiver in my setups.

The ability to switch directions from the receiver is great. I tend to use it backwards from how traditional ACs do, so this helps a lot.

Overall, this is an excellent product that I intend to keep using for years to come.

The only issue I have with the unit is that the battery plate requires a small philips head screwdriver to remove. This can slow things down during production, so I discarded the screws and used gaffers tape to keep the plate in place. Much faster!

[15 mm] Kit came with everything I needed. Wireless Focus has great range, but more impressive is the fingerwheel to pull focus on your own!

Hard case to hold everything is a great plus, highly recommended!
