iOptron AZ Mount Pro GoTo Alt-Az Mount with Tri-Piercombines multiple technologies to produce a mount that requires minimal input from the user while providing full GoTo capabilities. This technology is referred to as "Level and Go" by iOptron because that's about all you need to do. Using its built-in level indicator, you simply level the mount and turn on the power. Utilizing the onboard 32-channel GPS receiver and built-in position and angular detection sensors, the mount calculates its global position as well as the telescope orientation, then automatically slews to an easily identifiable bright object in the night sky. Confirm a bright object is in the center of the view to activate tracking and GoTo functionality.

Included with the mount is the Go2Nova 8407 computer controller. This handheld unit features a 212,000-object database with 60 user-defined customizable objects for your favorite celestial bodies. The easy-to-use, menu-driven system displays on an 8-line, 21-character backlit screen. This fully GoTo-capable unit has automatic tracking for fast-moving near-space objects, such as the Moon and planets, and slower moving deep-sky objects like nebulae and galaxies. For setup or manual use, it has nine slew speeds starting at 1x and topping out at 10°/sec. The Go2Nova controller is powered by the mount to make it easy to use while reducing the unit's weight. For increased functionality, the mount is also equipped with a Wi-Fi module for wireless connectivity to your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

iOptron is offering the AZ Mount Pro GoTo Alt-Az Mount here without a tripod or optical tube assembly (OTA) for users who already have them and are looking to upgrade their mount, but to protect the head during transport and storage an aluminum hard case is included.

[Yes] I needed this to get my AZ-EQ5 high enough that my refractor would be useable at a comfortable height in Alt/Az mode. This did the trick! It is very stable and raises it to just the right height. It is a f/7.5 5 APO refractor. The standard pier that comes with the mount just wasn't hight enough. I also highly recommend the AZ-EQ5 or 6 for use in AP and visual. It is really nice to have the ability to switch to Alt/Az mode for visual then go back to EQ mode for AP. I have both mounts. And for a mass produced mount they work really well plus you can use EQMOD with them. 5

[Alt-Azimuth] This product arrived well packaged and was easy to set up without instructions. The only issue was with one of the tripod locking clamps. It required brute strength to lock into place and would still slide the tripod leg. Customer Service was courteous, friendly and arranged for an exchange. Looking forward to using this sturdy well secured support with my iOptron AZ instrument. 5

[21.6 lb] Been waiting for this mount for about 6 months. I signed up for the B&H availability update messages every 2 weeks. Been getting the same unavailable message for months. Then late last week, got the email from B&H that the mount came in. I quickly signed on and placed my order. In the meantime, I checked a few other astronomy related sites and did not see that any had this mount in stock. Four days later, it arrives as scheduled. All looks good! [Yes] This is a dream mount! After lugging heavy mounts such as the Celestron CGEM with heavy metal tripods and hefty counterweights for many years, this lightweight mount with its auto-aligning feature is a welcome change for aging hobby astrophotographers like me. The mount is light and compact and is controlled through its hand controller eliminating the risk of broken WiFi connections or privacy issues as with AM5 mount. Best way to understand this mount is to use it during daytime for viewing the Sun followed by night time use. It is simply a joy to use! 5

[Yes] Very easy to carry, setup and aligned. I like the WiFi control with an android cell phone and Syn scan and the possibility to convert it to a Eq with an additional wedge and contra wight . The fact that is a go to and the affordable price makes it a winner for me. Great service from B&H. 5

[Yes] the pier extension is well made, does exactly what you would expect.� It raises the viewing height of your device and/or minimized the leg spread on the tripod.� Less chance of someone kicking the leg by accident and throwing off your alignment. 5

[Alt-Azimuth] This tripod and mount combo works very well. I'm super happy with the performance and ease of use. Simple to set up, balance, and align. With minimal effort, the auto-align feature, complemented by a one or two-star alignment, produce on-target dead-center slews almost every single time. On-board battery seems to work for many hours and simplifies set up even more. Although I give it five stars, there are a couple of things that could be better: 1) The tripod and pier are rock solid, but fit and finish could be a little better. Nothing that prevents great results, but don't expect the best precision on the manufactured parts. 2) The built in level on the mount isn't fitted precisely, so you really have to use another level to get the most accurate leveling and learn what the mount's level looks like when the mount is truly level. Then you can get leveling results every time using the on-board level. 3) The leveling feet setup between the pier and AZ Mount Pro works, but the locking screw that is required to hold the mount onto the pier isn't elegant -- it's a smaller diameter screw sticking through the actual hold-down screw that acts as a lever to tighten and loosen the hold-down screw. Seems like a bit of a kludge on another-wise solidly built unit. 5
