Audio engineers and professional studios in search of a high-powered studio reference monitor will be impressed with the single, red PSI Audio A25-M, the company's flagship main and mid-field studio reference monitor designed to be tonally balanced; with high-resolution detail and an efficient transient response for precision accuracy in surround setups and stereo studio monitoring applications. The tri-amplifier delivers 170W to the 10.2" woofer, 80W to the mid-driver, and 50W to the 3.9" tweeter, which combine to provide a frequency tolerance of 38 Hz to 20 kHz (+1.3 dB) at an SPL of 124 dB per pair. The tweeter is handcrafted in-house to ensure performance and accuracy.

The amplifier output also features AOI output stages and includes a protection circuit, which can be monitored via the red LED on the front panel. The active crossover with integrated CPR delivers an impulse behavior with accurate stereo imaging. The crossover is also optimized for maximum phase coherence, projecting a wide horizontal and vertical listening area. The electronics are housed in a unit that is mechanically isolated from the speaker cabinet to avoid resonance at high sound-pressure levels.

The rear panel offers a balanced XLR input and features a volume control and a roll-off control for optimizing the low frequencies for standalone use or when using an optional subwoofer. The mid-high section can be turned 90°, allowing for the speaker to be placed in a horizontal position, while maintaining proper dispersion. [124 dB] I used to install mid to high end home theater and whole house audio in my college days. I've been exposed to good sound, but can't say I'm an expert like someone devoted to that alone. To my ear, these speakers sound great. Depending on the music or whatever, they move serious amounts of air and are totally clear while they do. I have them set to half volume, at the detent and use my new UR44 audio interface for volume control. I can only handle about 3/4 of max volume, but even at that volume they still sound wonderful. These are 150W each, and I've seen speakers that are twice that much power. I assume they're made for bigger spaces and not just a couple of feet from your head because I can't imagine how loud those could get! And I like loud! 150W is enough, to be sure. The footprint was bigger than I expected. I probably should have laid it out ahead of time. My family freaked out a bit in astonishment. I had to clear of my desk and get a little table setup as a return to my left to put books and papers on, as there is now no room for anything else on my desk. Time for a new desk anyway. I have them sitting on the medium sized Auray pads and they're a good fit, I suppose. A little larger in each dimension than necessary. If I can find a bandsaw, I may cut them down a bit. But I think the small ones would have been too small. Anyway, great speakers. 5

[63 lb] I own one SC-204 that I use as my keyboard monitor. Two SC-205's and TS-108 sub. I use the 205's and sub to gig small home venues. These speakers are great. Flat sound to me and they work. Great sound for mid to upper-mid priced speakers I would buy again and recommend to all. 5

[Red] These monitor speakers, although pricy, are very well suited to mixing and editing in protools for a studio either at home or in a formal studio setting. They are transparent with a very flat sound that does not emphasize any particular aspect of the frequency spectrum. Flat sound as used here is a good thing. The bass is surprisingly strong in my editing room which only about 8' x 10'. I did add a subwoofer for frequencies below 50Hz. The highs are exceptionally clear and the midrange very smooth. These speakers are very easy on the ears even after several hours editing. I highly recommend them. I use them mainly to edit recording of live theatrical musical performances. 5

[Vertical] These were my choice after researching and listening to most small studio monitors. The sound on the BX5 D3 is just what i needed, renders true to my mix(the closest of the monitors i tried) the sound is balanced, the power is punchy when mixed at the right frequencies. As a sound engineer these have become my favorite monitors even for recreational music listening. Totally recommend and 110% recommend buying from B&H. 5

[Active 3-Way] I use these with a Velodyne MiniVee sub. Stereo soundstage is superb and sweet spot is plenty wide and tall. These were an upgrade from a pair of smaller 5.5 monitors. If you can fit these, get them over a smaller speaker. They are not too large for a small studio or home office. Lift them off the work surface with hardwood boxes or stands (I prefer a wood surface with thick foam sticky pads). 5
