Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you open the battery compartment?? Not in the instructions or YouTube videos for other Pelican headlights. Do not want to break it. The obvious clip doesn’t budge. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

A: There is a clip on the top of the light. You must pop it over the notch to open.

Q: 2. Do you know what the Kelvin temperature of the light is?

A: Unfortunately the Manufacturer does not give this specification. My sincere apologies.

Q: 3. Can you easily turn this on / off and keep it in steady Red mode without cycling through all the other modes?

A: The HC65 V2 would stay on the last mode that was set before it was turned off.

Q: 4. Can you turn the red LED on and off without any risk of cycling through the white LEDs? Asking because in night photography I’ll catch a lot of grief from the rest of the group if my white light comes on.

A: Yes – red can be used without ever switching to white. First press will activate low red. Next press immediately after will activate high red. Next press is off. White low requires a full 1-second-press-and-hold to “skip” over the red mode. Next press immediately after will activate white high. Next press is off.

Q: 5. Is the battery removable? I do long shifts in low light conditions so swapping out batteries is much more convenient than waiting for this to charge. If the batteries are swappable what style are they 18650?

A: Yes, the battery can be taken out. This is a battery charger option for that head light, Nightstick Dual 18650 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Kit BH #NI18650KIT1 • MFR #18650-KIT1 https://bhpho.to/2TqzCRY

Q: 6. has anyone used this flashlight with a digital camera? is there banding when used with a digital video camera?

A: Please contact Nitecore for these type of specs info@nitecore.com

Q: 7. Can this light use rechargeable batteries? As I understand it, rechargeables have a lower voltage than alkalines which are specified.

A: Yes it can use rechargeable batteries, the voltage change will not effect the flashlight operation

Q: 8. I love my new Fenix Flashlight HM65R-T, but the head band is too small! How can I get a large band?

A: Fenix makes a optional headband. https://bhpho.to/36qO4zU

Q: 9. Where do you find a charger for the RALS 9440? Its a Unicorn apparently

A: Unfortunately, we do not carry this charger. It listed as part number 009446-3446-000 which you can obtain through the manufacturer. https://www.pelican.com/us/en/support/contact-us/

Q: 10. Where do I find this Unicorn??? The unit comes with a proprietary AC charging cable which plugs into each of the battery cells. For a RALS 9440

A: You may obtain the replacement cable through Pelican directly by calling 1-800-473-5422.

[3x AAA] This flashlight is carried by an elderly family member. It’s definitely bright at over 200 lumens (Gen 3 model) and is small enough (and light weight enough) to carry everyday in a woman's purse. Like other Pelican lights we have its well made. We bought this flashlight in large part because it is simple to operate: 1 click for high, 2 more for low. (That’s all we want or need.) If you want a simple, small, powerful light for emergency or occasional use – that’s
convenient to carry – this flashlight is perfect for that purpose. It uses common AAA batteries, which I greatly prefer. Its a wonderful light from our perspective. Glad we bought it.
