Standard zoom is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 38.6-112mm equivalent focal length range.

Bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture affords consistent brightness throughout the zoom range, and benefits working in difficult lighting conditions.

Two XR (extra refractive) and three LD (low dispersion) elements are featured in the optical design to noticeably limit color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity, color fidelity, and apparent sharpness.

Three glass-molded aspherical elements and one hybrid aspherical element help to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range to deliver notable sharpness and accurate rendering.

Both eBAND and BBAR coatings have been applied to suppress ghosting and lens flare for improved contrast when working in backlit conditions.

VC image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops or more effective handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Separate VC modes are also available to suit various styles of shooting: Mode 1 is a balanced setting for general use, and promotes both a stabilized viewfinder image and stabilized results, while Mode 2 is designed exclusively for panning movements.

An Ultrasonic Silent Drive autofocus motor delivers quick and precise focusing performance to suit working with moving subjects. This motor also affords full-time manual focus control, and it is possible to focus on subjects as close as 1.25' away.

A moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions, and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dust, dirt, and smearing.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Compatible with optional TAP-in Console for fine-tuning select focusing adjustments and for updating lens firmware.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the zoom lock work at all focal lengths? Or only when the lens is at 24mm?

A: it only locks@24mm (but the zoom doesn't creep even without the lock; well, at least not yet). other than that mine is quite excellent.

Q: 2. Will the lense work well with EOS-R ?

A: Yes, with the EF to RF adapter.

Q: 3. Allo, This lens or nikon 24-70 vr ?

A: The Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VS USD G2 is a fantastic alternative to the OEM Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens, with excellent optics, vibration control (Tamron's version of Nikon's VR), a f/2.8 aperture, and a lighter construction.

Q: 4. Will this work on the d750?

A: Yes I've been using it for about a week on a D750 and it performs very well indeed, great lens.

Q: 5. I'm trying to decide between this lens and the 15-30mm. I would like a wide angle lens but wonder if the 24-70 would fill the need, any thoughts?

A: Both are exceptional lenses but if you are shooting landscapes, architecture and other super wide scenes, etc.. I would go with the 15-30mm, if you want an everyday lens for general all around photography, then I would go with the 24-70.

Q: 6. Made in Japan?

A: I know that the Tamron 70-200 G2 VC works perfectly on my Nikon F100. Aperture control and all. I would like to know if the 24-70 behaves the same.

Q: 9. Will this new version work correctly on Canon 5d iii? Since g1 had terrible focus problem

A: I've had no problems with it on my 5D IV.

Q: 10. What's the difference between this and the older version? And will the price of the older version stay lower?

A: The G2 version improves upon the original in terms of the lens coatings, faster autofocus, and the ability to update the firmware of the lens as needed using the TAP-In Console.

[f/2.8] It was time to upgrade one of my portrait zooms and I read a lot of reviews on lenses before purchasing this one. This lens does not disappoint. I saw an immediate improvement in sharpness and color rendition when using this lens instead of the Tamron 28-75mm (which is also an excellent lens. I just wore that sucker out). I am very pleased with this lens and it will be very hard to beat in image quality and value.

[Canon EF] This is a superb lens, great sharpness and contrast. Lighter than the SIgma and Nikon equivalents, and much more reasonably priced than the Nikon. Solid build, feels good in my hands.

[24 to 70mm] This is my second tamron 24-70 since I messed up my first one. It is a great lens I would highly recomend.

[Yes] This is my favorite lens to use now! I shoot a lot of car shows and this lens is perfect for getting close but wide enough to get the whole car without looking like a fisheye lens. It has excellent bokeh for close-up shots of hood ornaments and emblems. It is wide enough that I can sit in the seat and get shots of the entire dash and zoom in close to get one individual gauge. It's perfectly versatile for what I need!

[3.25 lb] I own some other Tamron lenses and have been very pleased with them. 1st off, I shoot with a Nikon Z9 and a D850.
I found the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 to be an excellent lens and a great value. The lens was a bit soft at f/2.8 but was tack Sharpe at other f-stops and mm. I could have adjusted the lens to sharpen it at f/2.8 but I did not want to compromise in the other f-stops. Plus the minor softness at f/2.8 can be improved in post processing.

[82 mm (Front)] Perfect when working with the magazine and not have to switch lens back and forth. Gives me what I need for headshots along with wide angle shots.

[9, Rounded] All the reviews I read rated this lens above the competition. How true. Great pictures. Sharp. I also bought the TAP-In Console to check the focus at different settings. Found the lens to need some tweaking. After taking some shots and checking them for focus, I made adjustments in the TAP-In software as instructed. Now a top-notch lens is even better. Both great products from Tamron!!
