The Cooke 32mm T2.2 Panchro/i Classic Prime Lens PL Mountcombines the warm look of a vintage Cooke Speed Panchro with the convenience of the i/Technology lens data capture system. This modern redesign works with both digital cinema and film cameras, features focus scales marked in feet, and covers image formats up to Super 35. One of several focal lengths available, the 32mm prime incorporates a nine-blade iris for cinematic bokeh. For optimal performance, aberration, flare, and distortion-correction extends over the entire image area and throughout the 32mm's T2.2-22 aperture range. The Panchro/i Classic Primes are color-matched with Cooke's S4/i, 5/i, mini S4/i, and Anamorphic/i lenses.

Each Panchro/i Classic Prime lens sports both a hardened PL mount and a cable connection that use Cooke's /i Technology to transmit lens data including focal length, aperture, focus, and depth-of-field to compatible cameras. The 32mm Panchro/i Classic Prime Lens features a 6.3" minimum focus distance, a relatively light weight of 2.6 pounds, and a compact length of 3.6". This lens is constructed with 0.8-mod geared focus and iris rings for use with follow focus, zoom control, and wireless F/I/Z systems. A large lens barrel, an increased number of focus marks, and Cooke's cam-style focus movement enable precise focus pulls.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Metabones 0.64 speedbooster on Blackmagic 4K?

A: The Metabones 0.64 adapter will work with full frame lenses as well as APS-C lenses like the Meike 25mm T2.1 Super35 Prime Cine Lens. You may use APS-C lenses, but you can only shoot exclusively in 4K.

Q: 2. Does the lens data contain lens distortion information?

A: The Cooke 21mm T2.2 Panchro/i Classic Prime Lens uses /i Technology which is a metadata protocol that enables film and digital cameras to automatically record key lens data for every frame shot. /i Technology data includes focal length, focus distance, zoom position, near and far focus, hyper focal distance, T-stop, horizontal field of view, entrance pupil position, distortion and shading data.

Q: 3. what happens if I put this on my R5 with the adapter? any vignetting or will it just be wider than 100mm?

A: If the Meike 100mm T2.1 Super35 Cinema Prime Lens (EF Mount) is mounted on the Canon R5 in full frame mode, there will be vignetting as the lens is designed for Super 35 sized sensors. You can place the Canon R5 in crop mode in the menu as seen here: https://bhpho.to/3TkCU85, in order to crop the sensor to only capture the APS-C portion of the sensor to remove any vignetting.

Q: 4. Will this fit in the empty slot of the 5-lens hard case?

A: Of the two cases available for the NiSi ATHENA Cinema Lenses, the NiSi Hard Case for Set of 9 ATHENA Cinema Lenses fits the NiSi ATHENA PRIME 135mm T2.2 Full-Frame Lens (ARRI PL).

Q: 5. What’s the magnification factor on the macro?

A: Cooke says the magnification of the Cooke 85mm T2.8 Anamorphic/i 1.8x Full Frame SF Macro Prime Lens 1:4.

Q: 6. Does the lens capture 8K images?

A: Yes, the Rokinon Xeen 135mm T2.2 Lens with PL Mount is capable of capturing 8K images.

Q: 7. Is this lens parfocal?

A: It is not. A parfocal lens is a lens that stays in focus when the focal length is changed. This is a fixed focal length lens, you cannot change the focal length of this lens.

Q: 8. Any way to convert the PL to EF mount to fit onto the 0.71x canon speed booster?

A: The conversion is not possible, as the flange distance would not allow for this to focus more than a few inches at best.

Q: 9. Is there a photo version? Sigma Art 65mm EF? With AF etc

A: There is no photography version in EF mount of the Sigma 65mm ART lens.

Q: 10. hi does these lenses have a specific characteristic to it? Is it maybe more on the vintage side or is it a modern sharp lens? thanks for your help.

A: This lens leans more on the modern, sharp end, but still has some very fine, delicate rendering and a very subtle cinema-like look. It is elegant and simple in a very subtle way.

[ARRI PL] I purchased the 31mm Dulens lens & don't regret it. I enjoy the color rendition of this lens. It's a sharp lens and it has a dare I say Vintage look lol. Its a small & light weight lens and packs a punch. It doesn't Flare as much as I thought it would - to mitigate some flaring just add a
Matte Box when shooting out doors. I also like alternating from Full frame 31mm to Super 35 and get closer to a 50mm look with this lens. It lives on my Lumix s5iiX camera 70% of the time. It pairs well with the FotodioX Pro Lens mount Adapter Arri PL to L mount cameras. Keep in mind the Aperture ring is a little tight to turn but I would say its a good thing when using this lens - you don't want the aperture ring to turning easily when in use. This lens is definitely worth considering when shopping for your next budget Cinema Lens. Cheers!

[T22] Excellent quality feel and the sharpness is outstanding. Works well with the Small Rig Mini Matte Box system and Follow Focus. The price is a plus too..

[T2.2] This is a really well constructed lens. It feels like it's worth every penny. The optics are crystal clear, no distortion of any kind that I can detect. The giant focus ring turns and turns - very nice for pulling focus. On the downside, at longer distances with the aperature wide open, the depth of field is razor thin, and the focus ring has increasingly less travel between steps at further distances. I realize this is physics, but I was personally surprised by how touchy focus is at 40-50' in lower light situations.

[9] I use Xeen lenses for commercial/corporate work and they are excellent for that. The lenses don't have a ton of character like some vintage or anamorphic lenses, but they produce a nice and clean image. They are heavy but feel very solid.
