Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have an IP camera that can generate h.264 rtp multicast streams. Can the Osprey G2 decode from an IP camera?

A: Yes it should as this decodes H.264 RTP/UDP multicast and unicast streams.

Q: 2. Will this work with Zoom, YouTube and Facebook?

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder is compatible with RTMP and RTMPS streaming protocols which are used by Zoom, YouTube and Facebook for streaming.

Q: 3. What is the latency of the conversion?

A: Users have reported a latency between 150-200ms.

Q: 4. SD card or USB? Which is best for recording audio?

A: The Datavideo H.264 Dual Streaming Encoder/Recorder only has recording onto the SD.

Q: 5. Can this product stream 3 streams simultaneously WITH EACH STREAM HAVING A DIFFERENT BITRATE?

A: Yes it can. Each output stream can be configured independently on the UI of the Osprey Talon G2 H.264 Encoder.

Q: 6. Dies this unit have point to point ethernet or does it act as a bridge?

A: So that we may answer your question fully, please email us. Provideo@bhphoto.com

Q: 7. Can this encoder simulcast to more than one platform? (Ex. stream to both Facebook and YouTube simultaneously)

A: Yes. The Osprey® Talon G2 H.264 Encoder has up to three streams that can be sent out simultaneously, originating from a single input stream.

Q: 8. Via SRT does this send SEI timecode so that multiple of these units can be used for multi-camera sync at a remote switcher?

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder does not support SEI timecode via SRT. It can not be used as a Sync generator.

Q: 9. Can this receive a YouTube Live stream and decode it?

A: This will not be able to decode a Youtube Live Stream. This is meant to work with an encoder like the Osprey Talon G2 H.264 Encoder, BH #OSTG2ENC.

Q: 10. Can I send video from my Dji pocket 2 to this device through RMTP and take the HDMI out to my switcher for live streamiing? Is that even possible with this device?

A: The AVMatrix SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder, is intended to take an HDMI input and encode it for streaming. As the DJI Pocket 2 does not feature an HDMI output, it would not be compatible as an input to this encoder.

[14.1 oz / 400 g] This is a professional equipment to keep your connection stable during livestream! You can have two connections for redundancy to avoid loose of signal. 100% recommended.

[CE, RoHS] Bought this and its matching tx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

[2.19 lb] These units are ideal for instant connect up and they work. You can customise the bit rate and it keeps the video smooth. One TX can feed many RX.

[2.19 lb] Bought this to provide better video stream than my JVC GY LS300's RTSP feed (it has a big delay and sketchy feed). This is magnificent uncompressed quality. Already have a NewTek connect Spark, but this makes production a breeze. Been using it with a Church client's live stream and convinced them to go with Bird Dog products. They're not gonna regret it.

[10.6 x 6.1 x 4"] We replaced our old cable provider Nano box which was 480p with the VeeZee VZPro810 set-up was simple, transferring the settings from the nano to the VZ was straight forward.
Had to contact VeeZee once via Email and the customer service was spectacular, quick response time and a plethora of good information

[CE, RoHS] There's so many protocols to work with in this little box, and decodes practically anything thrown at it.

It's not an entry level unit but it's very very good and VITEC keeps improving it

[10.6 x 6.1 x 4"] Almost any camcorder produced before 2018 doesn't have NDI capabilities but with the addition of the Birddog Mini, you can make a leap into the world of networked video without any heavy lifting.

Excellent choice for any church or school that needs to stream video but doesn't want to incur the cost of wiring for video. Any HDMI source can be plugged into the Mini and using a local network, connected to a computer with a streaming application such as vMix or OBS. No capture card necessary - it just works.

This is a device that needs to be in the toolbox of any serious videographer.
