The 82mm Haida NanoPro MC Circular Polarizer 82mmfrom Haida NanoPro MC Circular Polarizer 82mmhelps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings, which also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help keep it clean for a longer period of time. The Nano coating associated with the 82mm NanoPro MC Circular Polarizer Filter provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

2.5x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.3 stops.

Multicoated to prevent internal ghosting and reflections.

Aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.

82mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.

Side knurlings to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

Q: 1. WIll this fit on the NEW 70-200 mm 2.8 II lens with the lens hood attached?

A: Yes Sony 77mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter will fit on that lens with lens hood attached.

Q: 2. does this fit a sony sel55210 lens?

A: The Sony E 55-210mm lens uses a 49mm filter. The Hoya 49mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter, BH # HOCPNP49 is a great alternative. https://bhpho.to/3fMdm0B

Q: 3. What is the filter factor, i.e. how many stops of light are reduced?

A: The filter factor of the Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is 1.6x, i.e., 3 stops of light are reduced.

Q: 4. Brass or aluminum construction?

A: The material of construction in the Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is aluminum.

Q: 5. Just curious about the image, is this filter that magenta?

A: Haida 77mm NanoPro MC ND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) is not magenta. That is just a reflection when the photo was taken.

Q: 6. How does the Sony brand filters compare to Hoya, Heliopan, or Zeiss?

A: T* is Zeiss glass - it would the same high quality

Q: 7. WHAT OTHER BRAND 105mm CPL FILTERS CAN BE FITTED TO LEE 105mm CPL ADAPTER ONTO LEE 100mm FILTER HOLDER?

A: As long as you have this 105mm adapter on your Lee foundation kit: https://bhpho.to/2cujqJ5 You will be able to use any filter that has 105mm threads such as this Haida 105mm circular polarizer.

Q: 8. What's the difference between this NanoPro MC ND filter and other Haida Solid ND filter?

A: This Haida 100 x 100mm NanoPro MC ND 3.0 Filter is Multi-Coated (MC) for increased strength and protection against scratches, as well as performance and quality.

Q: 9. What does 1.25x filter factor mean?

A: A filter with a 1.25x filter factor reduces your overall exposure by approximately 0.3 stops.

Q: 10. Is it UV too?

A: Haida 77mm NanoPro MC Clear Filter is a clear multicotaed glass to protect your lens from the elements. This filter does not reduces ultraviolet light, therefore it is not a UV filter.

[Aluminum] It has no color cast, like others said. It fits in the NiSi 100x100mm holder. I chose this one over the NiSi CPL because it is as good but $70 less. The quality is the same. I've compared both and this Haida does the job very well. It is about a stop and a half less light as advertised, so it works great with 6-10 stop NDR filters when shooting real estate videos. Highly recommend it.

[82 mm] I am no filter expert, so I can't speak to any chromatic aberration or color casting in this item, but it does its job as a polarizer well. The ability to cut out reflections is incredibly useful on set. Just make sure the filter is pointed the right direction during use (one side is marked Lens Side).

[Aluminum] Excellent materials of construction, a high quality glass, compared to other higher cost filters, has a very exact control of color casts. For the price and quality it has, I recommend it is worth it.

[82 mm] This filter is being used on a Hasselblad HCD24 lens and a Nikkor Z 14-24mm lens to good avail. There is no color cast and I cannot detect any degradation in sharpness. I can't say anything about longevity right now, but the manufacturing quality looks promising. This and a ND1.8-Stops filter are my first products from this company. Time will tell if there will be more. I can recommend this filter.
