The Sirui A1005 Aluminum Tripod Y-10 Ball Headfrom Sirui A1005 Aluminum Tripod Y-10 Ball Headis a 5-section tripod that weighs 2.7 lb. The aluminum legs fold a full 180° in reverse to make it a compact 14". With the center column fully extended, the tripod can reach a maximum working height of 55.1". Additionally, with a load capacity of 22 lb, this tripod is suitable for a pro DSLR with a large telephoto lens.

The hook at the bottom of the center column enables you to hang a small sandbag or camera bag to stabilize the tripod. Plus, variable leg-angles allow the tripod to have a minimum height of 10.2", and the center column is also reversible to let you get even closer to the ground. Sometimes a tripod is not allowed in certain areas because space is limited. That is when a useful feature comes into play–the tripod's leg detaches and converts into a monopod. You can increase the height of this monopod by attaching the center column to it.

The included Y-10 Ball Head is Arca-type compatible and comes equipped with a quick release plate. It also has a knob-style lock for the clamp, and two separate knobs control the movement of the ball and 360° panning base. In addition, with the ball head's single-cut notch, the camera can be placed in a 90° angle.

A: The A1005Y is an excellent combination of streanth & portability. It has a 22 pound load capacity, well within your system requirements. The Sirui twist lock system only requires 1/2 turn to loosen or tighten. When loosened the legs move smoothly. When tightened they are solid. The Y-10 head is very solid. No Sirui products require excessive force to function properly.

Q: 10. Can the feet be removed and replaced?

A: No, on the Sirui model ET-1004, the rubber feet are fixed and non-interchangeable/removeable.

[Twist Lock] Light, and amazingly sturdy. Some complain about the stiff legs but it comes with allen wrenches so you can loosen or tighten them. Also if you have some muscle it's not a problem. I'd rather they be a little stiff that to loose. Best travel tripod I've bought so far.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] At first I was looking at the smaller and lighter tripods, like the T004 and T005 series, but went for this because it is a little stouter. Smallest leg section is 0.5" (13mm) in diameter. I also like the 2-section center column, plus the ability to convert one leg + center column to a monopod. Also like the release button that keeps the QR plate from sliding out until you're ready. I don't mind having twist locks because that is what I'm used to, and these work fine.

I was aware that this is a little heavier than some of the backpacking types, but the trade-off is that it is sturdier and has a higher load rating. However, the advertised weight of 2.2 pounds does not include the head -- together, the total weight is close to 3.3 pounds. All in all, I still like it a lot.

[Aluminum] Excellent model. To me the best in class of the Sirui line putting it just above the other travel models in weight, but with the added benefit of sturdiness, without too much penalty. Love the flip leg locks, and that sold me, plus decent height, short shaft, adjustable leg angles etc. Only minor gripe, which is common with all the Sirui short shaft accessories, is that you lose the bag handle underneath when attached. However, for about 70grams penalty, I added a screw adaptor to the protruding thread, and attached a lightwieght carabena hook/latch. Problem solved. I reckon you could almost replace heavier models in the field, for long exposure, astro work, espcially if you attach a bag to the hook. Mine comes in at just over 1.6kg with the short shaft, Manfrotto head (320g) and custom bag hook on the short shaft thread. For only a few grams more you could leave the longer centre column attached, and have more height, but you'd lose the ability to go super flat, however, the long shaft would give adequate low angles for most shots. I just like a bit less weight, plus the ability to go lower, and I don't mind using my flip out screen on the LCD. It's high enough for me with the short shaft. Long shaft pretty much gives me eye height. Looks to me like it will stand up to fairly decent use.

[Ball Head] Great, solid and light tripod for the price. I almost bought the Manfrotto befree at the store, but I realized that the Sirui has a better built quality, the weight and seize is almost similar. Really happy of my purchase.

[Aluminum] I was looking for a lightweight, compact travel tripod to use with my Nikon D850 with telephoto lens. I had read that with most of these types of tripods you needed something that exceeded the actual weight of your camera and lens to ensure good stability. I knew that there would be some tradeoff with a travel tripod, as compared to a standard, heavier tripod, which I have. Although I have not used the Sirui extensively, it feels substantial and is more stable than I expected for a tripod that weighs only 2.7 lb. It is rated for a load capacity of 22 lb. and folds to a compact 14. The tripod has a detachable leg which converts into a monopod which is a nice feature. I am very pleased with the tripod and with the rebate provided by the company, the price was very right.
