The IPGard 16-Port DVI-I KVM Switch with CAC Portallows users to control keyboard, video, and mouse operation on up to 16 computers with DVI displays or HDMI/VGA displays with an optional adapter. It supports native video resolution up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz. It also features a dedicated CAC port and allows users to assign specific peripheral devices to this port. Once a peripheral device has been registered by an authenticated admin, users can then switch the connection between that device and the PC's along with KVM switching. Designed for use in secure defense and intelligence applications, this switch is NIAP PP 3.0 certified and includes security features that meet Information Assurance safe control standards.

This switch emulates the presence of a keyboard and a mouse for every attached computer through a USB cable, preventing direct connection between the peripherals and the connected computer. It also prevents unwanted and unsecure data from getting transmitted through the DDC lines by means of secure EDID learning and emulation.

The unit is equipped with internal anti-tamper switches, which sense attempts to open the device enclosure. Once the system identifies such an attempt, the unit shuts off connections with all the attached PCs and peripherals, disabling any functionality. The controller of the unit comes with a protection feature that prevents reprogramming or reading the firmware. The enclosure is also protected with a tamper-evident seal to provide a visual evidence if the unit has been opened.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Specifications say 23.8Mbps, this seems very slow for a Gigabit switch! Is this a misprint?

A: I always have issues converting bauds to bytes... so in real world, this switch let me transfer files at 103-105 Megabytes per second, almost twice of my previos switches (those small 3Com 8 100/1000mbps ports). I will buy it again if I have to.

Q: 2. is this unit rack mountable?

A: The Netgear ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch (GS116NA) can only be mounted on a wall.

Q: 3. Is the fan noisy? We are installing in a classroom.

A: This unit will run passive cooling depending the temps. It should be fine for use in a classroom.

Q: 4. Is this full POE?

A: The ZyXEL GS1100 16-Port Gigabit Rackmountable Unmanaged Switch does not support POE.

Q: 5. Is this switch comparable with Waves Soundgrid network?

A: Yes, the Netgear ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch BH #NEJGS516NA is compatible with Waves Soundgrid.

Q: 6. How many RU does this use, and does it have fans or need space between itself and other units?

A: The Netgear ProSafe 16-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch is 1RU tall, and this switch does have a fan.

Q: 7. Will this unit install in a 19 inch rack or is the rackmount kit built for a larger size rack?

A: The Rack mount adapter kit is for a standard 19" rack.

Q: 8. Does this unit have an internal fan?

A: No, the Netgear 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Unmanaged Switch does not have an internal fan.

Q: 9. Can unit be wall mounted? It looks like it may have screw accommodations for angle brackets.

A: It could be wall mounted, but only with right-angle brackets that fit the hole patterns on the switch. No brackets are supplied with the switch. The patterns on the case appear to be like those you would find for rack mounting equipment with right-angle brackets on the left and right of the front face. Don't know thread of the holes. The square they form is 20mm center-to-center on a side. Square is 18mm from front, 12mm from bottom and 13mm from top. There are no openings on the top or bottom of the case.

Q: 10. what is the cable lengths?

A: The cable length of this is 4'(feet).

[248 MHz] My work (Windows) laptop is typically docked and connected to two 22" monitors, one VGA connection and one DVI connection. I have a Mac Mini as well, using the DVI input on second monitor (with HDMI to DVI converter). Was previously using wireless mouse and USB mechanical keyboard for the laptop, and a wireless keyboard/mouse for the Mac, switching inputs via the monitor menu. Too much clutter. Finally bought the KVM switch; should have done it years ago. Now I have just the wireless mouse, USB mechanical keyboard, and an easy push-button swap between Mac and work laptop. My only minor complaint is the 3-second lag when switching. First world problems. Graphics are fine for me, but I'm not pushing anything graphics-intensive on either machine. Overall, a wonderful addition to the home office to reduce clutter and make toggling between work and wasting time during work hours much easier.

[Automatic] I needed to switch between two laptops that needed to use the same USB keyboard, USB mouse, and monitor using a VGA connector. The IOGear 2-port USB KVM switch is compact, with plenty of attached cables for both computers, and a very handy push-button switch on a long dedicated cable that allowed me to hide the KVM and position the switch right in front of my monitor. I am very pleased with the unit.

[32 x USB Type-B] I needed something so that I could access two separate computers, with two different Operating Systems, to the same monitor - without having to change the plugs back and forth. This product did the job perfectly. I had to mess with the USB plugs a bit first, but finally got it right, and how easy it is now! I'm very pleased!

[16] Ask for a simple DVI/USB KVM switch and get one with this cool little wired remote! No more fumbling for the big switch or trying to remember key commands. That little remote with adhesive is stuck to the monitor base. One click and I'm on the next machine. Simple setup. Integrated cables make it nice. And fast switching, with the little remote, of course, makes it sweet!
