This blue/gray 9.5 x 12.5 x 3" Lineco Drop-Front Archival Box 9.5"x12.5"x3"from Lineco Drop-Front Archival Box 9.5"x12.5"x3"is used by photographers, artists, and archivists for storing and protecting photographs, flat art, and other important documents.

The archival box is made from a 60-point board, which is acid- and lignin-free, making the box suitable for long-term storage. Acid levels are lowered because the board is buffered and does not transfer any contamination to the contents. Each corner of the lid and box has a metal edge for added strength and durability, which is ideal for stacking boxes on top of each other. Once the lid is removed, the box's drop-front lowers to reveal a white interior, that allows easy access without any damage to the contents.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can this be stored in an outdoor shed?

A: This is not weather proof or resistant so it is not recommended to store in an outdoor shed.

Q: 2. How many photos do these typically hold?

A: The number of photos the storage box holds depends on the thickness of the paper the photos are printed on and whether or not the photos are in sleeves.

Q: 3. how does the drop front stay closed? is it magnetic? or is it always down when the lid is off?

A: The lid holds the drop side closed. When the lid is off, the drop side falls down about halfway so you can access the prints more easily.

Q: 4. Do the Archival Methods 8.75 x 11.1" Crystal Clear Bags fit in this box?

A: Yes, they will fit.

Q: 5. Will this box hold the Print File brand SB1122 Slide Storage Boxes?

A: Yes, according to the dimension comparison, the slide boxes will fit in the Lineco box.

Q: 6. how many prints can it hold?

A: Around 250

Q: 7. What is the total number of art prints to keep in a single 3 inch deep archival box?

A: Fine art printing papers vary considerably in thickness. Here's an example of how to figure out how many will fit of any given thickness. Find out the thickness of your paper expressed in mils. A mil is 1/1000 of an inch. As an example, Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright WhitePaper 310GSM, is 19.6 mils thick. 1000 divided by 19.6 = 51. So 51 sheets would be 1" thick. If you fill the Lineco box right to the top you'll get 153 prints in it. Now that's the theoretical maximum. You have to assume that you're not PRESSING these prints in, so they'll take up a little more space. You might have the prints in sleeves for protection. you might be using inter leafing tissue. Anything that increases the actual space taken up by each print reduces your count.

Q: 8. Do you think this box would this box work well for storage without using the smaller tray boxes?

A: yes

Q: 9. How sturdy is this box? Does it really hold up well with use? Thank you!

A: Yes it does. Excellent for archival storage.

Q: 10. What are the interior dimensions of this box?

A: Hello Richard. I took a ruler to one of my boxes and it measured 9.5 x 12.5 x 3 , which happen to be the quoted dimensions of the box. Either the manufacturer is measuring the interior or the thin sides subtract no appreciable volume. I even sliced a piece of spare mat board to those dimensions and placed it in the bottom of the box to be sure. Even though the box is very thin it is extremely rigid. It's a well made box.

[0.935 lb] This acid-free box is the perfect size for storing my family photos from the late 1800's and early 1900's. The metal edge box is sturdy and very easy to store. B&H also had the lowest price for these items with very fast delivery. Thank You

[9 x 12"] Purchased three of these for my books... to store my OXFORD MICRO PRINT DICTIONARY SET in , and they fit perfectly into this box size... they are stackable too...but no more than 4 high.... But laying the books flat will save the spine of the book from sag damage and from dust and too much moisture exchange causing damage... very good investment in your rare older bibles as well as any records you want to keep safe..... Acid Free prevents damage to book over time...
