Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. My email was wrong. Is this a 52mm female thread? to a 48mm male thread?

A: The Sensei 52-48mm Step-Down Ring has female 48mm threads on the front of the ring to allow you to connect a filter with 48mm male threads to the step-down ring. The back of the step-down ring has 52mm male filter threads which will screw into the 52mm female filter threads on the front of your lens.

Q: 2. I have never used step rings before and am just wondering can they be stacked to use 62mm filter on 52mm lens? Or is there an other option I should consider. Does stepping up like that increase the chance of lens damage considering the filter extends wider than the barrel? Thanks

A: Yes, they work just fine. I would echo the caution on internal reflections.

Q: 3. Can this be used with filters that aren't B+W brand? Such as Firecrest?

A: I've used these step up rings with various filter brands ... Hoya, Nikon, etc...

Q: 4. Does this filter allows to use a 67mm filter on 52mm lenses?

A: This will actually do the opposite- this allows you to use a 52mm filter on a 67mm lens. Instead, you will want the 52-67mm step up ring: http://bhpho.to/1clCmra

Q: 5. Will these fit on a Canon lens?

A: This General Brand Step-Down Ring Kit would be compatible with Canon lenses, but it depends on the filter size of the lens.

Q: 6. Are the threads female on both sides?

A: No. The 58mm side is male and screws into the lens. The 49mm side is female and receives the filter's male threads.

Q: 7. If I have a camera with a 30mm lens, and a 37mm fisheye, do I need a step up or step down ring?

A: If your filter/attachment is larger than your lens, it's a step-up. In this case, your fisheye attachment is 37mm and your lens' front diameter is 30mm, hence, you'd need a step-up ring.

Q: 8. Will this fit canon lenses for a 5D mark ii camera?

A: This kit will fit any lenses and filter you want to use on the 5d mk ii.

Q: 9. If I flip this around can I use it as a step-down ring? I know I'll have to deal with vignetting (well, maybe not technically vignetting, but overlap into the image area), but will it work until I can get the correct size filters? Or are the threads threaded in such a way that it can only screw on to the lens on one side and the filter on the other and cannot be flipped?

A: No, this can only be used as a step up ring.

Q: 10. Does this come with the 72mm lens Attachment to 82mm filter threads?

A: No, please check out the Sensei 72-82mm Step-Up Ring. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/809647-REG/Sensei_sur7282_72_82mm_Step_Up_Ring.html

[58 mm to 49 mm] ... This step-down ring was a special order because of it's uncommon size and I had to wait a little while for it to come from the manufacturer but it was well worth the wait! It's built exceptionally well, it performs as it should and now I am able to mate my vintage spiratone curvatar to my 58mm canon eos lenses for an inexpensive but fun fisheye effect. It really is a simple item but if you need one it's good to know you can obtain one!

[58 mm to 49 mm] I recently purchased a Zeiss 1:1.4/50 for my EOS 7D and thought that my Raynox DCR-1850Pro Teleconverter Lens 1.85x which I used with my Dimage camera, might be adapted to this lens. I installed this step-down ring between the two and now enjoy a 100mm+/- lens along with my great Zeiss 50mm. I store the two attached and separate as needed. The high quality of this ring makes this possible; shows little wear after much use. I am thouroughly satisfied with this ring and highly reccomend it. ( Watch for the green light,Luke, a manual focus lens, it is!)
