One example: got a laptop and just fine with the single screen most of the time. But, every now and then you would not mind having that extra screen and you even have an old vga monitor well this will get you that duel screen without having to go out and buy a new monitor you really don't want. : )

[7.25 x 2 x 1.3"] I'm using it to mirror my desktop from a Surface Pro (2017) to a Panasonic Viera VT30 plasma TV. Works perfectly, no issues whatsoever. Sends both image and audio signal over HDMI. A little more expensive than some of the other options out there, but I didn't want to take any chances as it seems some don't work properly. This one definitely works.
