Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there track that is compatible with these dolly wheels?

A: We are not aware of a track that will work with this dolly. This dolly has standard casters, you would need to look at a dolly that offers track wheels as well to be used in a track. The Glide Gear SYL-960 Floor/Track Hybrid Tripod Dolly, B&H # GLSYL960, is a nice option to consider. https://bhpho.to/2tCfHBx

Q: 2. will this support an hdx900 with a battery and smallhd monitor?

A: The stated minimum payload of the VB is 4.4lbs

Q: 3. Is there a compatible dolly base for these sticks?

A: Sachtler Dolly for flowtech 75 Tripod BH #SAS20551: https://bhpho.to/3h8b5y6

Q: 4. Will this fit my Vinten Vision 3 AS Head?

A: Yes, the Vinten 3330-30 Bowl Clamp Knob Assembly B&H # VI333030 fits the Vision 3AS.

Q: 5. I will purchase ( as soon as available ) the Flowtech 75 with Aktiv6 head, is the handle strong enough to carry both head attached to tripod? or just the legs

A: Yes, this can handle a full tripod system.

Q: 6. Is the Vinten Flowtech 100 bowl exactly the same as the other branded flowtechs? I have a vinten vision 100 and the half bowl is slightly smaller than other brand 100mm bowls. The head isn't compatible with many legs that have a slightly wider bowl. Are Sachtler or Oconnor branded Flowtech 100s compatible with Vinten heads?

A: No Sachtler or Oconnor branded Flowtech 100s are NOT compatible with Vinten heads

Q: 7. Are there pneumatic wheels as an option?

A: Barbara is 100 percent correct. If you want to modify you could add 1/4, 5/16/, 3/8 at the max single top threaded bolt pneumatic wheels or any type of wheels to this unit. But the stock wheels are similar to hospital type smooth rolling wheels with almost zero play. They feel like sealed bearings but are clearing not both horizontal and vertical.

Q: 8. Will this tripod support a PMW - 350 camera?

A: The Sony PMW-350 with LCD VF, AF lens, Mic and BP-GL95 battery weighs 13.9 lbs. The Vinten VB3-AP2M has a load capacity between 6.6 to 14.6 lb. The PMW-350 is just at the edge of being able to work with this tripod, but you will not be able to add a lot more to it. You may want to consider tripods with a larger load capacity. Vinten has the Vision blue5 with a capacity between 12.1-26.5 pounds. While the Miller SOLO DV 20 has a max capacity of 22 pounds. You will need a VCT-14 Quick Release Plate to connect the camera to any tripod as well.

Q: 9. can wheels be replaced?

A: While we do not sell replacement casters for this dolly, you will be able to replace them. However you may need to reach out to Sachtler directly for support with this.

Q: 10. Are these actually for the Flowtech 75? I haven't seen this locking design except on the version for the Flowtech 100. Researching the Manufacturer ID number also doesn't bring up anything conclusive and I can't find this product on the Vinten website.

A: yes these are for the Flowtech 75

[0.25 lb] So far, I love this tripod. Coming from Libec and Manfrotto sticks... I've had a Sachtler head for a long time but never upgraded the tripod itself. It is far and away faster to setup, easier to raise and lower, easier to carry when folded and easier to move with the camera on the sticks thanks to the included handle. They are very rigid.

The only con I've noticed is that sometimes the feet tend to get twisted or don't flatly contact the ground when setting up, probably from getting bumped around while folded up.... but I've never had this happen with any other tripod. It's not a big deal, happens rarely and I just tweak it back to normal and I'm good to go.

I do wonder about long-term wear and tear. I've already got some good scratches in the carbon fiber legs after 2 months of normal use.

[0.25 lb] I put these handles on on all of my big tripods (Gitzo, no name brands, etc.) as long as the tripod include an 3/8 accessory socket. Some time it doesn't quite fit but nothing that a Dremel can't fix.

[0.25 lb] I finally got to use my Sachtler Flowtech sticks this weekend on a short film project. What a time savor! We were able to move quickly between setups, which allowed us to pick up more bonus shots along the way. Who would’ve ever thought a tripod could be so innovative, but the flowtech system works really well.

[0.25 lb] I bought the tripod without the spreader and used it like that for a couple months. It works ok like that, but it works much better with the spreader, and it didn't cost that much more. It's well worth it.

[0.25 lb] This is the best tripod design that I have seen in my almost 40 years of shooting film and video. It's lightweight and easy to adjust and level even when the camera is mounted. I love having the locks where they are easy to reach. It is perfectly steady when using a fully rigged out Canon C300 and 40" slider. The magnets keep the legs firmly together for easy transport. It has all the build quality that you expect from Sachtler. I does have an odd rainstick sound effect when extending the legs, but that's an observation not a criticism. I would definitely recommend this tripod. Yes it's $$$$ (it's Sachtler), but your back will appreciate it at the end of the day.

[0.25 lb] I honestly have yet to find a flaw. This is the easiest to use, most rock-solid set of sticks I've ever owned.

[0.25 lb] I use this on a TH-X 65mm head to convert it to 75mm. Very solid and substantial part--high quality like all Libec tripods and heads.

[0.25 lb] Lightweight but strong. No more bending over to make height adjustments. I bought the attachable carry handle and it's magnificent. For proper folding/closing of the legs make sure you get the right head for it. It does best with heads with the straight leveling handle as apposed to the petal (three-prong or four-prong) or wingnut style. It's been great so far. Did I mention how light it was?
