[0.8 in] It's a great option to have for the CT-3442 Tripod. Good quality construction, and as solid as center columns can usually be. The CT-3442 still can fit in its supplied bag with this center column attached.

[Power, video] I specifically bought the Feisol CT-3442 model because it didn't have a center column but I found that (for my needs) it's a real pain to make micro adjustments to height. I purchased the long column along with the short column. The long column installed in minutes and feels stable and secure and it can be swapped out for the short column in seconds. I don't plan on extending the column too much in use (small incriments), but it's nice to have the flexibility to do so without having to monkey around adjusting all of the legs. As a bonus with the center column, I can finally reverse the legs and actually get the tripod to fit nicely in its case (I have an Acratech ball head--which is a fantastic ball head, but it's not dainty, and I wasn't able to reverse the legs and store the tripod in its case, but with the long center column I can...happy day!)

[32 °F] I was surprised and delighted to see this center column when it arrived as the diameter of the tubing is much larger than one usually sees in a tripod center column. As a result of its increased diameter it is very stiff and even with a 12 lb camera and lens mounted on the head it provides excellent support.



I thought at first that it would add two inches to the collapsed length of the CT-3472 legs but then I realized that the legs can be folded up and around the head and when this is done the total length of the tripod with the column and a ballhead mounted is only 19 inches.



What I love about the CT-3472 legs is that I can change out the standard base plate for the quick leveling head or add the center column and have new functionality at very little cost.



With Feisol I find that I get comparable build quality and performance to my Really Right Stuff and Gitzo legs but at a fraction of the cost and with the gain in inexpensive options to modify the tripod for my needs.

[0.8 in] I have the CT-3402 which is a flexible easy to use tripod. You can add various center columns to your needs which I think is a good feature. I had an issue with the set screws but I replaced them with better M4 screws that tighten & loosen easily. I mainly shoot in the dark and finding the small original screws may be a chore. Simple to use & lightweight.

[3.5 Watt] Been using this for 2 weeks and it tracks dead on with the 3000 dollar plus equipment I use everyday.  I bought this to have as a back up and so far it definitely exceeds my expectations.  This is a professional grade piece of equipment!  B&H was quick on delivery...

[1080p @ 60 Hz] I tested this center column with a gimbal head and my 600mm f/4E 8 lb lens. It was stable at 4.5 inches of extension which provided a total base height of 62.5 inches for the head and overall height with the gimbal of 66.5 inches.

[4.8 in] High resolution, the mic with it is also good. The size is smaller than I expected, which is great.

[2.4 in] Added this center column to my CT-3372. It added about 1 pound
of weight. Columns is very sturdy and tightens very good.
Was worried about the column being wobbly, but it's not.
Adds over 1 foot of height which is great if the tripod is below you on the side of an incline.
