The Tiffen 49mm Soft FX 3 Filtercan be applied to purposely reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

This filter has a grade of 3. Grades of 1/2, 1, 2, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

A: Yes the Hoya 49mm R72 Infrared Filter can work with a lens that is attached to a 80D.

Q: 7. Does it have front threads? Does it have hard stops?

A: Okko 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter (1 to 9 Stop) do not have a front threads or hard stops.

Q: 8. What material is the ring made of? The other two B+W 67mm uv filters list being made from brass.

A: The B+W UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter (62mm) does have a brass ring.

Q: 9. What does this filter do? Does it cause a prism effect or what? None of your filters explain their effect and I can't find them anywhere else online.

[3 x 1 x 0.5"] Its a great portrait filter as I use it to give a warmer feel to the overall scene, but also skin tones. The softness is not too much as the subject's eyes standout. Its a great filter to keep in your bag. 5

[3 x 1 x 0.5"] Most of my portraits taken in the studio with my lites, often have a hot lite appearance to them. I needed something to soften them. What this filter does is not only soften the images but lends a warming tone to the skin. With two complete photo sessions completed, my customers are quite satisfied with the results as I am. 5

[3 x 1 x 0.5"] This filter saved my life on a shoot outdoors with a very pale Iowan at the end of winter. Midwesterners don't see the sun for months and they get really, really pale. My Tiffen Warm Soft F/X1 transformed the subject from looking like death warmed over into to a regular human being. The great thing about using the F/X1 is that you can't tell it's in use. People shot from less than 5 or 6 feet away don't look fuzzy, they just look a little better. However, out past 8 or 10 feet you can start to see that there's something weird going on. I wouldn't use it to shoot a room for instance. But at normal closeup distances, it's magical. 5
