Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The first picture shows a pan bar attached to the FSB 4 Fluid Head. Is one included in the box? If not, what is the Sachtler code for this pan bar in the picture? Thank you.

A: It does come with a Pan Handle. You can also order one for the other side if you wanted a studio config.

Q: 2. Are there pneumatic wheels as an option?

A: Barbara is 100 percent correct. If you want to modify you could add 1/4, 5/16/, 3/8 at the max single top threaded bolt pneumatic wheels or any type of wheels to this unit. But the stock wheels are similar to hospital type smooth rolling wheels with almost zero play. They feel like sealed bearings but are clearing not both horizontal and vertical.

Q: 3. What is the head made out of?Plastic of metal?

A: The head is made mostly of metal with plastic and rubber components.

Q: 4. I ordered this screw (Sachtler - SKO12E0353 3/8 Screw for Tripod) and it does not fit the Sachtler FSB4 head because it is not long enough. I note from the reviews that others have had this problem. QUESTION: How can I obtain the correct longer screw ASAP?

A: The SKO12E0353 is the one that we have listed for this tripod and it's plate. I will alert our web department to make sure this correct. The length of these screws are pretty standardized among tripod manufacturers; they cannot be too long or they can damage gear. For your situation, if the non-threaded section is not long enough so it can fit the plate (as in the one compliant I found) you can try these three suggestions. If these do not work, please contact Sachtler directly at this link: http://bit.ly/1LMzkdC

Q: 5. Will the Flowtech 100 fit in this bag with a standard fluid head?

A: yes, it does

Q: 6. What's the difference between this head and the ACE XL head?

A: The FSB 4 head offers a capacity up to 8.8 Pounds with a 5-Step Counterbalance. While the Ace XL goes between 4.4 to 17.6 pounds and has an incremental 8-Step Counterbalance system. However the FSB line up in general offers a higher quality build over the Ace series as far as the materials used.

Q: 7. Does this come with the padded bag and carrying handle?

A: yes

Q: 8. What's the exact size of that Padded bag? Not the shipping box. Thanks!

A: The dimensions of this Sachtler padded bag are 36.6 x 7.9 x 9.1 .

Q: 9. Is the fsb 6 too much support for a sony a7s3 with a 24-70 lens attached?

A: The FSB6 might be a bit too much for the A7SIII, especially if you use a lens that keeps the weight below 3.3 pounds. The FSB4 would be a better option.

Q: 10. can wheels be replaced?

A: While we do not sell replacement casters for this dolly, you will be able to replace them. However you may need to reach out to Sachtler directly for support with this.

[Empty] This
head is logically simple and reliable in use. But to understand the
quality of its work, and therefore, to decide whether to obtain this
head for myself or not, I would need to answer two questions for
myself:

1)
Would you need to set up the head under your camera every time for
different filming parameters?

2)
Is it important for you to have clean camera movement and therefore
in-shot composition?

If
not – then it is better to get a simpler and cheaper head, you
would save a good deal of money.

If
yes – then Sachtler will serve you well. That is, the FSB 6 will
satisfy many professional needs (of course, except large film
projects, where there are other needs for other camera equipment).
But in the case of production of many independent films – feature
or documentary – with non-heavy cameras, the Sachtler FSB 6 head
creates a firm sense of reassurance that the most difficult scene,
panorama and mise-en-scène
will
be shot. In film production, just like in any craft, there needs to
be a certain level of quality which would help complete a job with a
good and stable result. Sachtler FSB 6 is in this very category of
quality. I give 5 stars with one comment – I got the Sachtler FSB 6
for a tripod of another brand and the Tie-Down Bolt was shorter than
needed. I suspect that I am not the only one to whom this problem
extends to.

[4.6 lb] Very easy to operate and more concentrate all the energy to photography as left hand can touch the lens.
Highly recommended.

[Empty] I purchased this head nearly 10 years ago. It has survived trips all over the world and three cameras later, it is still the same as the day I purchased it. Smooth action with no perceivable backlash and flexible counterbalance system. It is now the heaviest item in my camera bag as I now use it with primarily a DSLR to shoot my video. Sadly hasn't been used much recently due to the state of travel with the coronavirus, but will hopefully be on the road again soon.

[36.5 x 9 x 6.8"] My first pro fluid head back in the day was a Manfrotto 501.  I suffered its crappiness for a couple of years, finally saying Enough is enough and investing in an FSB-4.  Eventually, my camera rigs outgrew its weight capacity.  In an attempt to save some money, I read some positive reviews of a more modern Manfrotto head and tried it.  Guess what?  It sucked almost as much as my old 501, and I returned it.  Bought this FSB-8 and of course, its amazing.

[Black] I've now used the Sachtler FSB-8 fluid head for a few months on a variety of event video shoots (concerts, cabarets, etc.) and corporate interviews. In a nutshell: it works perfectly. This thing is far, FAR better than a Manfrotto 504HD (my previous fluid head). Super-smooth pans and tilts, great counterbalance with my Canon C100 camera and 70-200mm lens. It's nice that the quick-release plate is compatible with Manfrotto plates, so I didn't have to spend any extra cash on additional plates.

My only complaint is the pan handle. It's way too short, and not adjustable in length. You'd think a fluid head as expensive as this would have a decent pan handle. You can purchase another compatible handle that does extend, but it's very expensive.

That said, I have zero regrets with this fluid head. Buttery smooth motion, easy to set up, doesn't weigh much, and it just plain works. Highly recommended.

[Empty] I purchased this case to replace the original case which is 15 years old. Thinking I will get another 15 years from this one.

Design is slightly different than original.
