On wide-angle lenses, the ring's low-profile prevents any vignetting in the image, and the flat black finish on the ring minimizes reflections, which would cause lens flare as well. Additionally, the knurling on the edge allows you to have a firmer grip of the ring when you're putting it on a lens.

[62 mm to 67 mm] I purchased this step-up ring to use a 67 mm Leica UV/IR filter with a Konica M-Hexanon 50/1.2 (62 mm). The ring is very solid and does what's intended to do. Minimal height. Can't complain about anything. 5
