Write to Blu-ray discs at speeds up to 16X with the ASUS BW-16D1X-U External Blu-ray Drivefrom ASUS. This external drive doesn't only read and write to Blu-ray discs, you can also read and write to both DVD and CD optical media discs. Simply connect the drive to a USB port on either a Windows- or Mac-based computer and begin taking advantage of enhanced data transfer rates up to 10 times faster than those offered by a USB 2.0 connection. The BW-16D1X comes with CyberLink Power2Go8 software designed to streamline the burning process and protect private files. You can also take advantage of the included backup solution for Android smartphones and tablets to backup important files from your mobile devices.

Please note: this Blu-ray Drive is compatible with macOS X 10.6 and later. The eject button will not work with macOS. DVD burning and playback are both supported. Blu-ray burning is supported. However, playback from a Blu-ray disc requires third-party software, available separately. BOOTCAMP INSTALL Windows OS is also not supported when using this device with macOS. Furthermore, the included CyberLink Power2Go 8 Software is not compatible with macOS.

[4.015 lb] My experience with the ASUS BW-16D1X-U has been positive. I have found the unit to be very good... Since I already had Cyberlink installed on my computer I've had no issues burning any type of media on this unit. The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes it does not write as fast as expected, but that more than likely has to do more with my computer's processing power rather than the BW-16D1X-U. The main thing I use it for is burning old home movies, tapes, data, etc, to Blu-Ray, and because I am not in any big hurry, it matters very little to me how quick or long it may take to burn a disc as long as the end result is good. 5

[Yes] I love this unit. I can now write to my Blu-ray dual layer 50 GB and 100 GB disks, I have had a slight problem when using the Powertogo8-bundled software only when I have data verification enabled, however If I turn this off it is not detrimental to my copy. I will always buy ASUS brand equipment as I have such great experiences with using their equipment. Never had to return or ask for repair for anything that i can recall. Thanks ASUS.. 5

[Yes] Many laptops today are design without a optical drive, and I just recently purchased one. I wanted a drive that would do all the things I previously had access to do, and the Asus BW-161x was the winner hands down. There's nothing I could imagine to do that this drive could not do.
