This 3-stop, 6.6 x 6.6" Formatt Hitech ND Blender Filter 6.6x6.6 3-Stopfrom Formatt Hitech ND Blender Filter 6.6x6.6 3-Stopis compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4mm-thick, 6.6 x 6.6" rectangular filters. This filter is densest at one edge where it corresponds to a reduction of light from entering a lens by up to three stops and tapers to clear at the other edge. Its gradation can be used to selectively darken an image from edge-to-edge.

While this graduated blender filter's 0.9 density can be applied to bright skies, the remaining regions of the image can be exposed with a progressively decreasing effect. This filter is constructed from Scott Superwite Glass for clarity and color fidelity. A padded pouch is included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need a filter holder for an Hoya nd filter?

A: No, this filter screws on to the lens.

Q: 2. Am I right to assume that a 58mm lens cap would fit over this filter?

A: Yes, technically a 58mm lens cap should fit. But filters like these can be wider. They essentially are made up of two polarizing filters sandwiched together. So they can be a bit wider because of that.

Q: 3. will this adapter ring work with the lee 100mm system?

A: Yes, this adapter is designed for the LEE 100mm system.

Q: 4. Is this filter fit with fujinon 35mm lense?

A: There are several Fujinon 35mm lenses listed here on B&H and none of them seem to have a 43mm filter size. However, it could simply be that your lens isn't for sale here. Without more information on the lens this question cannot be answered. Can you provide more information about exactly which model of 35mm Fujinon lens you have?

Q: 5. Is it really made in Japan like the picture shows?

A: Yes, this filter is made in Japan.

Q: 6. Where is this made?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is Germany. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 7. Do these filters come with a front filter thread so you can attach a CPL Filter?

A: Yes, it has a 82mm front thread.

Q: 8. I have a vivitar 0.43x wide angle filter that accepts 62mm filter threads. I'm considering getting this Bower 62mm Variable ND filter and a 58-62 step up ring so I can use it on both the wide angle filter and my Canon G40's lens. My question is; would there be any amount of vignetting that would render the use of the ND filter on the wide angle filter pointless? How much of a vignette should I expect?

A: I can confirm what Roland said, this filter becomes unusable at its maximum/darkest setting. Roll it back just a bit and it's fine, but do keep that in mind.

Q: 9. How do you clean this without damaging the multi coating?

A: Use this ZEISS Lens Care Kit BH #ZELCK2

Q: 10. Is this filter too dark to focus / compose with the filter already mounted?

A: It depends of course on the amount of ambient lighting in your shot. My work flow is to focus first, shoot to check focus, exposure, and composition. You really need to see the image properly expose before adding the filter. Then I shoot a few images with various shutter speeds with the filter on. Eventually you will become intuitive about your exposure times.
