A: No the camera will need to be turned off when the batteries are removed. Once you begin sliding the batteries out the camera will loose power. With 2 fully charged batteries this should give you about 5 hours of open shutter time. This grip is excellent. I have the same brand for my 5D MKIII and never had an issue. A: Yes, so you just have to go wider on your lenses. To get 24mm you'd need to shoot with a 16 or maybe a 14. There was rumor that the new firmware would improve the crop to 1.24x (I think it was) but it didn't happen in the latest update.
