[Empty] I've always had instances I wish I had a lantern box. This one has bonus points for the curtains.

[Camouflage] It can be used with a C stand like the photo but a C stand arm doesn't reach very far and also adds a lot of weight fully extended. Recommend some other sort of arm/stand.

[Camouflage] This tripod is very sturdy and also fairly light weight. I wouldn't want to carry it miles through the woods, but for short distances it's fine. It's not the weight, but rather the length.

Even with all legs retracted, it's pretty big, but that makes it such a sturdy tripod.

I recommend buying this.

[Empty] I purchased the Algonquin tripod two months ago prior to a trip to Utah, California, and Wyoming. We photographed in Rocky Mountain NP, Arches, Natural Bridges, Antelope Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Seqouia, Yosemite (got rained out), Death Valley, and Yellowstone. I had the chance to use the tripod at home for two weeks prior to the trip. All features of the tripod worked flawlessly. I bought a Really Right Stuff leveling head to use with the Mark IV gimbal head which I had also purchased from Jobu. On the trip, which lasted five weeks I took many land scapes, panoramas, and wild life images. I put some indexing marks on the gimbal head and was able to take double row panoramas. I used a nodal bar an could mount my camera on the gimbal head with a short lens. I used a Canon MarkIII with a 24-70 2.8, 24-105 and a 100-400. I was able to easily set up for photos and the tripod and gimbal head were extremely stable and adaptable to all situations. I used the set up in Bryce in four inches of snow, Death Valley at over 105 degrees and in Yosemite in fog and rain. All of the equipment functioned flawlessly. The locks on the tripod were very secure and never slipped in any way. At one time after an 18 mile combination mountain bike ride and hike (tripod in a backpack) to photograph the Wahweep Hoodoos. I did get some sand in the tripod legs. Afterwards I was able to easily diasemble the locks and clean the sand from the legs. The gimbal head was extremely smooth and locked up tightly. The Really Right Stuff leveling head made leveling the gimbal head a snap. The tripod was extremely stable and my images turned out very well. Everywhere I went the tripod and gimbal head attracted attention from fellow photographers. All were greatly impressed with the quality and performance of the tripod and gimbal head. I would highly recommend this set up to anyone using either short or long lens setups.

[Zipper] The Jobu Algonquin tripod is worthy of a great review. What strikes me more than anything is the simplicity of the design and features, which equates to reliability and ease of use in the field. There is nothing on this tripod that is superfluous, but there is everything that you absolutely require of a good tripod. I am fortunate to have found this tripod because it provides me with the confidence to take it with me into wilderness areas where it gets abused more (by packing it in), and has to handle wind, weather, and rough terrain. Even though Jobu themselves say that it is not a back country tripod because it is too heavy and bulky, I have come to learn that it is not a problem to carry a 4 pound tripod vs a 2 or 3 pound tripod - a little extra weight will not break my back, and the quality of photos, along with the reliability, is of unquestioned value. I have been able to use other expensive, high quality tripods, but easily, and happily, settled on the Jubo design. I fully agree with all the other reviewers that this is an outstanding tripod, and when compared to the other leading tripod manufacturers, is a fantastic value.

[Yes] Saw another review with broken rods. The ones in my
Nanlite Lantern Softbox LT-80 are steel. Different than what I'm use too. You don't just push down and hook it in place. This has the thumb quick open like on softboxes. Then you have a cable you pull up to make it tight. I like this design. Did a color meter test and Kelviin did not change with this lantern. Bare light gives me 5650 and lantern read the same, Will be using on a Forza 720B and Forza 500

[Zipper] Purchased for a gifted professional bird photographer. When it arrived I was just a tinge jealous, but being a shorter guy that likes a tripod that fits in a small bag this would not fit my needs. Nonetheless it impressed me as rock solid, very easy lock and unlock with the twist action, beautifully crafted and an ideal tripod for a 500 mm lens used in bird photography. Bought this brand because of great luck with the same brand of gimbal head purchased.

[Zipper] This Riser Block is absolutely perfect in combination with my RRS BH-55 ballhead, and the Platypod Max when I don't feel like lugging the tripod around. It gives me just enough height off the plate to be able to make adjustments. I've outfitted it with a QR RRS lever clamp that allows me to switch back and forth in between ballhead and gimbal.

[Yes] Perfect size for the Jobu Design Algonquin Tripod, although if you are using a tripod apron be forewarned that you will have to take it off and place it in the bag folded as the taper will not allow for the tripod to be inserted with the apron mounted. Padding is a nice touch, and with the tripod's own canvas dust bag added it is thoroughly protected from any dings. The little zippered inside pocket could have been a bit more re-enforced for my taste but it will comfortably hold any Allen keys, or rubber caps from the spikes when so desired. A great purchase over all, and well worth the money.
