ArchivalGrade boxboard is made from fully bleached, high alpha cellulose pulp, which has a minimum of 3% of calcium carbonate, and it maintains a pH value of 8 to 9.5. Moreover, the boxboard, which is suitable for long-term storage of materials, has passed the Photographic Activity Test. In addition, the paper is free of lignin, acid, recycled pulp, metal, waxes, plasticizers, bleach, and peroxide, and virtually free of sulfur.

The exterior of the box is a textured surface, and the colored dye is light-fast and non-bleeding. The surface of the board does not contain knots, shives, or abrasive particles that would otherwise damage the material stored inside. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many matted prints can fit in this box?

A: The interior of the Lineco Drop-Front Archival Box (11.5 x 15 x 3", Blue/Gray) is height three inches. So as for how many it can fit really depends on the thickness of the paper and matte board you are using.

Q: 2. Is this box metal or cardboard?

A: The box is made from cardboard with a metal title frame.

Q: 3. Do the Print File 4x6 Storage Envelopes fit in this? The envelopes are 4.75" and it the interior H listed here is 4.5".

A: Yes, the Print File Storage Envelopes for 36 4x6" Prints and Negatives - 25 Pack (BH #PRSE463525) will fit in the Print File Archival Photo Box (Black). The interior height of the box is 4.625" which is the same as the envelope height.

Q: 4. Why is the interior dimension for length greater than the exterior dimension?

A: The exterior dimensions are 8.0" x 11.75" x 4.75".

Q: 5. If I'm looking to print 11x14 with sleeves, what size box do I need to get?

A: This box is perfect for your requirements.

Q: 6. How many mounted prints fit?

A: It would depend on the type of mounting used on each print. This box has a 2 depth, so essentially a 2 stack of your mounted images.

Q: 7. Are the index dividers also acid- and lignin-free?

A: Yes, Print File shows this product as having an acid-free and lignin-free white paper lining.

Q: 8. What is the total number of art prints to keep in a single 3 inch deep archival box?

A: Fine art printing papers vary considerably in thickness. Here's an example of how to figure out how many will fit of any given thickness. Find out the thickness of your paper expressed in mils. A mil is 1/1000 of an inch. As an example, Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright WhitePaper 310GSM, is 19.6 mils thick. 1000 divided by 19.6 = 51. So 51 sheets would be 1" thick. If you fill the Lineco box right to the top you'll get 153 prints in it. Now that's the theoretical maximum. You have to assume that you're not PRESSING these prints in, so they'll take up a little more space. You might have the prints in sleeves for protection. you might be using inter leafing tissue. Anything that increases the actual space taken up by each print reduces your count.

Q: 9. How many prints does it hold?

A: I think it can holds 50 sheets of 11x14in.

Q: 10. What are the measurements in metric?

A: Our specs page lists the dimensions in metric units. For your convenience, the dimensions in centimeters are 21.6 x 26.7 x 5.1 cm.

[0.5 lb] These boxes are great for single sheet negative storage, or other archival storage needs. I have dozens full on the shelf. I recommend not stacking more than 2-3 high when full of heavy negatives.

[0.5 lb] I bought these folders to use with the Archival Methods hinged lid boxes and I am really happy with my purchase. I can file away my negatives without needing to re-sleeve them or cut them. Such a time and space saver!

[0.5 lb] I have several of these boxes in varying sizes to store a few hundred prints I've had made in recent years. The boxes are very sturdy and the prints fit nicely--not too tight, not too loose. The fold-down flap makes accessing prints on the bottom easy. Good protection for expensive prints, money well spent.

[Attached Lid] I have purchased several of these in various sizes over the years - mostly for storing photos and family history scrapbooks. This one will be for storage of full sheets of watercolor paper. I no longer have a flat file and plan to keep it under the bed for now. I can always count on BH to send things in a timely manner and without damage.

[8.0 to 9.5] great box for photos, both matted and raw (separated with archival tissue). will only get them from B&H since other places (such as Amazon) do not properly pack/ship these, and those have arrived damaged.

[Attached Lid] This does exactly what its supposed to and takes up much less room than the usual plastic binders. The files are easier to leaf through too. The manufacturer mentions 50 files of 35mm negatives can fit in it, they can but pretty tight. 35-40 files is much more comfortable. Great product

[Attached Lid] This binder box is perfect for my archival needs. With 2.5 D ring binders on the inside I can store many more slide pages than any other brand of storage box. The clam shell design completely seals out any dust/debris and is completely light tight. I highly recommend this Ringfolio box to anyone with a large collection of images and especially slides.
