Filter out polarized light and saturate the skies and foliage in your pictures with the Aurora-Aperture PowerCPL 86mm Gorilla Glass Polarizerfrom Aurora-Aperture. This 86mm circular polarizer filter is notably durable while still retaining excellent image quality.

The ability of this PowerCPL to filter out polarized light makes it useful for achieving effects that are difficult to achieve in post-production. It saturates vegetation and makes skies look more blue while reducing reflection from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass.

What sets this product apart from other polarizing filters is its material. The Gorilla Glass construction makes this filter far tougher than ones made of regular glass. It is resistant to scratching and shattering, making it ideal for use with high-end gear in risky situations.

Other features of this filter include a multi-layer coating with nanotechnology for reducing flares and ghosts, and repelling water, oil, and dust. Through polishing and quality control tests, this filter achieves accurate color reproduction and a high resolution. An anodized aluminum frame with a 5.3mm thickness makes this filter easy to remove from the lens while keeping vignetting to a minimum. A wide-temperature-range lubricant is applied to the filter for smooth and dampened rotation regardless of temperature.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, what holder do I need to buy that the filter will fit in it? Thank you

A: This is designed for the Cokin P filter holder. http://bhpho.to/1uFxRzB

Q: 2. Can you insert this filter into an MC11 adapter as well? The photos look similar size/shape, trying to find 2 stop ND for MC11.

A: Unfortunately, the Aurora-Aperture Adapter Mount Format PowerND 0.6 Filter for Sigma MC-21 Lens Mount Adapter (2-Stop) is not compatible with the MC11 adapter. For that adapter we don't have a 2 stop option. The least density we have is this 6 stops filter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1496749-REG

Q: 3. Anyone have tips for composing/focusing with this. Would live view help at all on a 5D IV? I'm quite nervous about having to take the body and put the filter on in environments that this would be helpful in around waterfalls etc

A: HiCan't speak for the 5D MkIV but on my 5D sr the following is true. Using the EF 11-24 f4 at 100 ISO: with the 3 stopper the image is visible in LiveView, the focus points show and the focus square goes green. The exposure indicated on the screen is broadly correct and the viewed image in camera looks good, sharp and neutral to colour. So this would be the basis for your composition and exposure. As has been said already you will need a sturdy tripod and if you have a centre column collapse it. Focus as normal either Manually of AF but then turn AF off and don't touch the focus ring. Taping up the ring is a good idea as would be making a temporary register mark. Do not move the tripod when you remove the lens from the camera leaving the camera on the tripod of course. Swap out the lightest filter for whatever you wish to use. When you use even the 6 stop you will struggle to see live view for composition (&12 or 16 forget it) and my light meter reading was inaccurate. However, if you have followed the instructions so far when you remount the lens to the camera, you will be looking at the same scene as before. even if you can't actually see it! Double-check that the focus ring is still in the same place and focusing is still set to manual, then all you have to do is calculate the exposure based on the density difference between the first filter (3 stop) and whatever you have chosen. Its not rocket science but you will very soon find that your exposure will be 30 seconds plus so that means Bulb mode and a lockable cable release. The 5D sr has a count-up bulb timer to 999 seconds. You may find this useful, I had a play with the 16 stopper and ended up with a 2 or 3 stop underexposed photo at f4, 999 seconds and ISO silly. The colour noise was terrible but going down to ISO 100 and waiting even longer would probably be much more acceptable. Not sure if there is reciprocity failure at very long exposures but a good light meter would go a long way to finding a start point. Beyond that it is trial and error. Bruce Percy pointed out to me that if your histogram only goes halfway to the right you should at least double your time. Overall as a first look I am impressed with the kit. Undoubtedly very compact, might be a -go back to the car to change filters job- but I am expecting some seriously good results with this item. Hope that helps, probably not for the feint hearted but neither is the price of Lee's SW150, you would need to spend a lot more to get the equivalent filters at 150mm square.

Q: 4. Will the adapter work on the tamron 15-30 g2?

A: This Aurora-Aperture PowerND CR Filter Kit replaces the original plastic rear gel filter holder that comes with a lens. Because the Tamron 15-30mm G2 lens does not feature a rear filter holder this Aurora kit will not work on it.

Q: 9. Does this filter work for the solar eclipse?

A: Yes, the Aurora-Aperture Adapter Mount Format PowerND 4.8 Filter for Nikon FTZ Lens Mount Adapter (16-Stop) can work for solar photography but I would recommend a filter that goes onto the front element of the lens to avoid any damage that can pass through internally.

Q: 10. Do these filters work on both the EF-L and the SA-L version of the MC-21 converter?

A: The Aurora-Aperture Adapter Mount Format PowerND 3.6 Filter for Sigma MC-21 Lens Mount Adapter (12-Stop) is compatible with the Sigma MC-21 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to L-Mount Camera) and the Sigma MC-21 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma SA-Mount Lenses to L-Mount Camera).

[0.15 lb] This filter is manufactured using multi-coated Gorilla Glass with no color cast that I can see. When held about two or three feet from your eyes, at some angles, it looks like an empty filter ring containing no glass at all! I do not think this filter will degrade an image, while providing exceptional protection. To those that tempt fate, here's hoping your accident free streak with your lenses continues. If you think that a filter cannot protect a lens, well have a nice trip, and see you next fall. Stuff happens.

[Aluminum] The idea of keeping a 180mm filter free of dust was not very tempting. Especially considering I often have depth of field from front lens to infinity with my Canon EF 11-24mm (on my Canon EOS 5Ds R).
Live view focusing works fine with 6-stops (and of course 3-stop), and I seem to remember that it even worked with 12-stops, but I'll come back to that. I don't see any optic degradation. Highly recommended

[Glass] My first impression of this Aurora-Aperture 95mm Power XND Mark II Variable ND 1.5 to 3.3 Filter (5 to 11-Stop) is very good. I Bought this filter to use with my Canon 28-70mm f/2 lens. It fits perfectly without and step-up ring, I don't see any color cast, It darkens the image well, up to 11 stops. I am very happy with it.

[Glass] I needed this and the base plate to raise the Panasonic GH4 on my Tripod. Specifically the DV6 Sachtler pod. I was having issues with lenses being too low and rubbing on the tripod head plate. I wanted something that would raise my camera but not block the battery compartment on the camera. This did just that and though expensive, looks good in front of clients and has good resale value. The red adjustable torque knob is great and is one of those pull out and change orientation types.

[86 mm] Great solution for wide lenses.I use this filter on Canon 17 mm tse and finally I dont' have to use the 150 mm filters and adapter that are very cumbersome .

[0.15 lb] Did a comparison overlaying shots with and without the filter taken indoors using flash. I was not able to see any visible effect on the image created by this lens filter. No discernible change in brightness, sharpness, or color tone. With a strong light source in frame there is a secondary reflection caused by the filter in addition to the flares created by the lens, but under normal lighting scenarios my initial results are highly favorable.
