The HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base-8 IP & PoE Over Coax Unitfrom HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base-8 IP & PoE Over Coax Unitworks with the HIGHWIRE Powerstar camera side (available separately) to connect up to eight IP cameras via BNC connectors to deliver power and video to up to eight network cameras over coaxial cable. Up to 25W of power per port is delivered from the base unit to connected cameras. No external power cabling is required, and all configuration and setup occurs automatically. If PoE is unavailable, or for an extra power boost at either end of the cable, simply connect the supplied 57 VDC power supply.

This device delivers a full 200 Mb/s of bandwidth at a range up to 1000' on RG59, and 1640' on RG11 cables. This base unit is rack-mountable with mounting accessories available for purchase separately.

Q: 1. Does the unit come with a power supply already or is that separate?

A: The Veracity HIGHWIRE Powerstar QUAD does not come with a power supply. A 57V power supply is separate.

Q: 2. Please, will I be able to control PTZ functions over WEB interface?

A: Yes, the RGBlink vue HDMI/SDI/IP 1080p PTZ Camera with PoE & 20x Optical Zoom (Black) can be configured and controlled from a Browser. Overview: Either - use the remote control MENU|SETTINGS|NETWORK to set the IP to DHCP (auto get an IP address from an existing router) when connected to an existing LAN/network. OR - connect to a laptop, making sure that that laptop is set to the same subnet as the camera (ie. 192.168.5.??? -??? can be number 1-254 but not 163) Then - enter the IP address of the camera 192.168.5.163

Q: 3. does the rack mount chassis come with the unit?

A: Yes, the rack mount ears do come with the unit that allows you to mount the unit.

Q: 4. is there any latency added to the input and screen? is gaming not possible with this product?

A: There should be no latency and we see no issue using this for gaming.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Ubiquiti Camera G4 Bullet / UVC-G4-BULLET?

A: Yes. The Ubiquiti Networks U-POE-af PoE Adapter BH #UPOEAF is perpose-built for compatibility with Ubiquiti cameras.

Q: 6. Does this come with both transmitter and receiver? The image shows both but the description only says transmitter.

A: A purchase of the Atlona 4K/UHD HDMI Transmitter over 100M HDBaseT with Ethernet, Control, and PoE only includes the transmitter, the receiver must be purchased separately.

Q: 7. I assume that this device can be used in conjunction with the Powerstar Quad? Can the veracity highwire vhw-hw be used instead with the Quad and have a power supply on the Quad?

A: Yes you can since the Quad accepts PoE and non PoE IP cameras.

Q: 8. Does this require or work with a switch between xmitter & receiver? Would it work if I had a long-range 802.11n (Wifi) dedicated network connection (not shared, not hosting general network traffic. (Such as Ubiquity M2 Rocket) How would it handle a layer 3 switch or router in the middle?

A: Our network is built on gigabit managed switches feeding wall ports and wifi access points. When these transmitters and receivers are hooked up anywhere on the network, it basically disables wifi by swamping the access points with multicast packets. I have to create VLANs on the switches to separate the video traffic from everything else in order to keep wifi working. However, even without the VLANs, performance on the wired network seems ok while these things are running.

Q: 9. How does IP addressing work? Does the unit pull 4 IPs from my network or reuse 1? I am trying to determine if I will end up with a quad-display inside one of the camera zone's on my NVR.

A: All this unit does is convert the Ethernet signal to work over coax, your router will still provide each device with an IP address. You will still need the VHW-HWPS-C to make this work properly.

Q: 10. would it work with UniFi 6 Long-Range Access Point?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks U-POE-af PoE Adapter BH #UPOEAF will power the Ubiquiti Networks U6-LR UniFi 6 AX3000 Long-Range Access Point BH #UBU6LRUS.

[57 VDC at 6 A] I have two systems running off of these in two different applications. One is as a straight 1to 1 extender, and the other is 1 Tx to 4 Rx through a standard switch. Both run 1080p with varying lengths of cable (50-125’). All devices have worked flawlessly since install. 2 years and one year respectively. 5

[1.5 lb] Great tool saves time and effort gets work done for alignment for IP and analog cctv. Highly recommended for any CCTV or Cabling tech. only issue I had was the faulty test probe appears to drain battery very fast. 5

[85%] When using this to power a Ubiquiti Wifi radio up on a tower, we only had to run the one RG6 coax, plug it in and done! Works absolutely great. I, especially, like the indicator on the other end to tell that everything is ok. 5

[57 VDC at 6 A] This worked right off the bat for us and some infrastructure where we could not pull new CAT cable but had pre-existing Coax. It's also a great bonus that they serve as PoE injectors if needed. Fantastic product. 5

[1.5 lb] We have 2 TVs in a High School that we use for digital signage. We had used other vga over ethernet adapters but we ran into picture quality issues. Using these with an additional receiver we were able to hook these up to our network switch and had no issues. Picture and audio quality is perfect. Since we use managed network switches we created its own VLAN for 3 ports so other network traffic was not effected. If you don't use managed switches buy a cheap $40 5 port switch and it's a plug and play installation. I like the suggestion from another reviewer about having these devices having the option for power over ethernet. Anything that doesn't require a separate power adapter is handy. 5

[1.5 lb] We have used this in our auditorium for almost a year over approximately an 150’ run for still images and 1080p video. Never had a drop out even during hour long video presentations and Set-Up was super easy. Going to get a second for a lobby monitor. 5
