At one time, the only way you could focus your light source was by using a Fresnel or PAR fixture. Litepanels has changed that with the introduction of the Astra Bi-Focus Daylight LED Panel. Fresnels and PARs can be cumbersome, but Litepanels uses two sets of lenses in the panel to allow spot-to-flood beam adjustment from 15 to 45 degrees in a fixture that is only 5.3" thick. The 15-degree beam angle is handy in situations where you want to isolate a subject, control spill, or manage long-throw applications; whereas 45 degrees is ideal for wide coverage. And best of all you can adjust your coverage without moving the light, a valuable capability when the Astra is hung overhead or mounted in hard-to-reach places. This is where Astra's control features will be appreciated.

The Astra's brightness function may be adjusted locally using the intuitive built-in control or operated remotely with one of the optional DMX512 modules, available in 5-pin XLR, RJ45, or wireless formats. Each module provides Master/Replica configuration for the control of single lights, or for multiple light fixtures in a network or daisy chain. In addition, the Astra Bluetooth module provides the same kind of control of single or multiple lights from a portable device, using the free Litepanels Smartlite downloadable app. The accessory modules slide into place on the rear of the Astra panel simply and quickly, with no wiring or complex installation required.

The light features a low power draw of 105W with a high output while maintaining a high TLCI/CRI rating of 95, indicating accurate and precise color rendering. The Astra Bi-Focus Daylight is ready for worldwide use thanks to the included 100 to 240 VAC power supply, but it can also run on 14.4V professional batteries with the purchase of a V-mount or Gold mount battery plate for situations where mains power is unavailable. A: On our 95Wh we only use these up to 50% or so. We use a bigger 160wh if we need to run on battery at full strength.

A: No, the case is not large enough to hold the two lights and two soft boxes.

Q: 7. Is there a a soft box that fits this light? The Litepanel DoPchoice soft box does not fit correctly. It only fits the thinner Litepanels

A: They are so soft by themselves, I never have needed or even worried about it needing more. It is super bright, and it rolls down to a true 1%-and no blinking or strobing ant any setting. We lit an entire room by pointing them up to the 18ft ceiling and not one shadow to be found. They are ready to go, easy to handle, silent, ..best lights I have ever used..if you have more of a tech or spec question, please hit me back.

Q: 8. Would these be able to be fully powered at the 6X capacity with 90Wh Gold mount Anton Bauer batts or would it need higher capacity batts?

A: It depends on the power (not the capacity) of your batteries. The lights draw 110W at full power. Most newer AB batteries can handle 110W, but older ones and smaller ones can not. Try to find the power specs of your lights, either in Watts, or in Amps and multiply by 14v to get Watts. (PS: VoltAmps and Watts are the same thing, so multiply Voltage times Amps to get power limit)

Q: 9. How many lumens is this light? I am trying to compare it to Arri Skypanel s-30, which is equal to a 1000w tungsten.

A: This light is 110w the S30 is a 200w LED. The Arri has about double the output.The Astra has 131 Lux vs Arii at 217 Lux at 15'. Neither light has a lumen rating.

Q: 10. Do these panels fit in a 1500 series Pelican case?

A: NO, they measure out to be with framing and everything 19 by 16 that's including the side screws and yok. On their website they measure it to be size 17.7 x 16.3 x 5.3, plus you need room to put foam between the case and light itself.
