Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is the cable that’s attached to the plate and dummy battery?

A: The cable is approximately 24" from the attached plated to the dummy battery.

Q: 2. Could I use it in a battery grip (VEBGP2)? Will it work?

A: Yes I've used it to film a performance for 70 minutes - worked absolutely fine. Only thing is you can't close the door on the battery compartment on the battery grip but that wasn't an issue for me.

Q: 3. Do I need to keep the battery spot of the GH4 open?

A: There is a rubbe to pull of, have a close look

Q: 4. Why does description list only two compatible cameras? Owners manual for my FZ80 says this is the model of adapter for my camera, but camera not listed here. Is there some different flavor of this adapter I should be looking for?

A: Panasonic GH5/GH4 battery power is 7.2V, 1860mAh and this adapter converts ac to that speck , the FZ80 battery is 7.2V, 895mAh , 965mAh difference , your camera would not be compatible with this

Q: 5. will this work with a standard d-tap port on V mount batteries?

A: Yes, this is designed to be used with any standard d-tap, such as that on a V-mount or Gold mount battery.

Q: 6. This is confusing - don't you need a dummy battery in addition to this adapter in order to power the GH5 with this adapter ?

A: Yes you do need it , Panasonic DMW-DCC12 DC Coupler for Select Lumix Digital Cameras BH #PADMWDCC12

Q: 7. Can someone just please clearly tell me the input and output voltage of this if B&H doesn't filter the answers so I can buy a $20 AC adapter and not get ripped off by having to spend $100 on Panasonic's?

A: The input voltage for this AC adapter is 100-240VAC while the output voltage is 8.4V. This is listed under the specifications tab for the item.

Q: 8. Does this plate have the P-Tap/D-Tap port that most AB Gold Plates have? (Can I plug in any P-Tap/D-Tap accessories to this pale beyond the Dummy Battery?)

A: Yes it does. There is a built-in D-Tap Accessory port on the plate.

Q: 9. I assume this will work with any standard Dtap power source? Also, will it power the new GH5-S? Thanks!

A: Yes it will work with the GH5-S

Q: 10. What would happen if suddenly the power was interrupted during recording with this system?

A: If power were interrupted the video file would not be closed. Most likely that video clip would be unreadable.

[12 to 16 VDC ] I have the Watson Compact AC/DC charger that I originally bought to charge my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera batteries, which are Nikon EL20. When I purchased my Panasonic GH4, I found this battery plate adapter for the GH4's BLF19 batteries. What a bargain! The plates easily snap on and off the Watson charger. And the charger came with a car cigarette lighter plug so I can charge in the field when I'm out on a shoot. So convenient!

[12 to 16 VDC ] One of the best purchases I have ever made. I'm sure all of these types of things work the same way so it's probably not specific, but it was a life saver and I shot all day long without ever fearing my battery dying.

[12 to 16 VDC ] Good product- and very cheap. Gave me reason to use another charger that I could not return.

[1x D-Tap] Got it for my GH5 and works very well, used the extra D-Tap for my monitor which has no issues too. Depending on how heavy the battery is, you need to screw it to the rods very tightly (if you want the battery in an upright position) so I'm not sure how durable it is.

[V-Mount] This is so good, the original GH4 charger is a pain with the wire and being bulky.

[Dummy Battery] Below is the review I wrote for the charger that this adapts to.

I bought this so that I could charge the batteries for the Panasonic LX100m2 externally.  The supplied USB charger is okay, but I dont usually want my camera attached to my computer for hours.  It charges the batteries a bit faster than charging in camera via USB.
Added benefit is that I can also charge the batteries for my Panasonic G9 with an inexpensive adapter.  I prefer this to the charger supplied with the G9 because it takes up a lot less space in my bag, plus I dont need to carry 2 sets of chargers and cables for the 2 cameras when I travel. It seems a bit slower charging the G9 battery than the charger supplied with the camera, but not significantly so.

Its a wall wart, but its small enough that I can plug in something else on the other side of the outlet. Both types of batteries fit easily and snugly into the charger. Also comes with an adapter for using a cars 12v outlet. Finally, a lot less expensive than either one of the Panasonic chargers.

[0.85 lb] Honestly, it's crazy how great I think this is. My Watson duo-charger can now handle every battery I need and charge two different battery types simultaneously.

No more bag full of various dongles, cords and bricks. I just have one charger and these extremely affordable plates for various batteries.

When you get older, I guess you start to fall in love with the strangest things...

[V-Mount] The quality of these units have been exactly what I need for video production and photography shoots that I work on. On the road, living in hotels, powering different cameras, Atomos recorders, sliders... etc. Switch the plates for the batteries that you've used that day and you can go to supper. You can see the percent charge remaining so you don't have to worry about accidentally putting a fully charged battery on the charger instead of the dead one... it'll let you know. Decide which ones need to be topped up and which ones don't. Before I used these chargers (we have 3 units) I would have to bring in all units into the hotel room so that I could read their power levels. Then I'd put them on chargers all over the hotel room and hope that they were making progress.... Then I'd hope that I didn't forget any batteries on the rush to grab breakfast and hit the road for more footage. I sleep better now because everything is shown on the display. Build quality seems decent considering the price. I wish there were a way to turn off the backlit display... even better would be a way to dim the unit and turn off the backlight. It would make it easier to sleep at night for those of us who are light sleepers. The adapter plates sometimes fall off the charger when removing the battery. Wish it didn't do this, but it's really not that big of a deal in comparison to all that I gain by using this unit.

[V-Mount] I'm very happy that with any new piece of portable lighting or camera, I am able to add one of these to my charger. It makes battery charging neat and handy.

[0.85 lb] I own the Watson Duo LCD Charger, and love that just by changing out these interchangeable plates, I can charge all 3 brands and types of batteries that I use for different pieces of gear. Ingenious!
