$8,999.97 $12,599.96

The S3V from Adam Professional Audio is an active studio reference monitor designed for vertical orientation in medium-sized or smaller control rooms. Capable of delivering 850W RMS of cumulative amp power, it features a 9” HexaCone woofer, 4” dome/cone hybrid midrange driver, and handmade folded-ribbon tweeter. The waveguides, Adam-designed mid- and high-range propagation systems (MPS and HPS), ensure a wide, stable sweet spot.

Developed for transparency, the S3V’s frequency response is an impressive 32 Hz – 50 kHz. A multitude of DSP options, from equalization to delay, are provided for tailoring the monitor to the room and to personal preferences. The back panel features an OLED display and a push-button/rotary encoder to allow modification of parameters. Connect a computer to the USB Type-A jack for convenient remote access to all the S3V’s settings.

Two inputs, balanced analog and AES3 digital, are available via XLR jacks. An XLR AES3 output is provided to route digital signal to the second monitor, necessary for correct digital signal flow. Vary input sensitivity and output level as needed. Load and save voicing presets for quick configuration of monitor options. If further tonal adjustments are desired, there is a 6-band parametric EQ with high-pass and low-pass filters. Use up to 5 ms of delay for timing adjustments.

Adam S Series monitors, custom-developed with no off-the-shelf components, are handmade in Berlin according to strict manufacturing tolerances.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this feed to my monitors? I don't have a sub ouput on my interface but want to add a subwoofer. What is the satellite output used for? Is that for my monitors that I want to daisy chain off of this sub??

A: Yes. You would connect your interface outputs to the Sub Inputs then Satelite Out to your speakers,

Q: 2. I assume these monitors cannot be used in the vertical orientation?

A: The A8H's waveguides can be rotated, allowing them to be used either horizontally or vertically.

Q: 3. what is the ohm ratings for these speakers?

A: The input impedance rating for the Adam Professional Audio T8V T-Series Active Nearfield Monitor is listed as 10 kOhm / 20 kOhm.

Q: 4. Because this active monitor has DSP technology, will there be a delay from the signal going in to the sound coming out?

A: The SC204 is designed to process audio with undetectable latency.

Q: 5. The pictures don't show an XLR or 1/4" input jack, but the specs say there is one...where is it?

A: The XLR-1/4" combo jack is not shown in the photos we have posted. It is located on the back of the speaker, on the lower right side. I was able to find a photo on Neumann's website which shows the XLR-1/4" combo jack labeled as #14: https://static-neumann.s3.amazonaws.com/img/3060/x2_desktop_KH80DSPAG_Features.jpg

Q: 6. Can these speakers be run directly off of a PC? If so, how do you connect them as the pictures show connections I have not used before.

A: The CMS 50 is a professional studio monitoring speaker and thus has connections typically found only in professional equipment. To integrate it with a computer, which would normally feature a 3.5mm stereo output, you would need a special cable (KOSMYCM2XM03) along with two extension cables (KOM4003, KOM4006) possibly 3-6 feet; your choice. But to maximize performance, I would advise you to invest in nice USB audio converter like the RME ADI-2 Pro, as it will heighten your listening experience by providing a pristine audio signal not available in standard run of the mill computer audio cards.

Q: 7. are there two monitors or one included?

A: Only one monitor is included at the $499 price. I have two and have no complaints.

Q: 8. Can I use it as desktop speakers?

A: Yes. These will work on a desktop. Isolation pads are usually a good option to ensure the desk does not resonate with the speakers. I would recommend using an audio interface for the best sound out of a computer, but a cable like this can be a less costly solution to output sound from a computer: https://bhpho.to/3yudNDe

Q: 9. What is the A/D Converter for?

A: Because these monitors have DSP (Digital Signal Processors,) a high quality 24 bit/192 kHz A/D converter from Burr-Brown assures a pristine signal to the DSP section. The PWM-amplifiers are directly connected to the DSP section, so no additional conversion is necessary. This guarantees an extreme reliability.

Q: 10. how would the adam a3x sound with this instead of the 7?

A: This would compliment the Adam A3X studio monitors, which go down to 60 Hz. This subwoofer has a frequeny range of 28 Hz to 300 Hz.

[Single Monitor] I used to install mid to high end home theater and whole house audio in my college days. I've been exposed to good sound, but can't say I'm an expert like someone devoted to that alone. To my ear, these speakers sound great. Depending on the music or whatever, they move serious amounts of air and are totally clear while they do. I have them set to half volume, at the detent and use my new UR44 audio interface for volume control. I can only handle about 3/4 of max volume, but even at that volume they still sound wonderful. These are 150W each, and I've seen speakers that are twice that much power. I assume they're made for bigger spaces and not just a couple of feet from your head because I can't imagine how loud those could get! And I like loud! 150W is enough, to be sure. The footprint was bigger than I expected. I probably should have laid it out ahead of time. My family freaked out a bit in astonishment. I had to clear of my desk and get a little table setup as a return to my left to put books and papers on, as there is now no room for anything else on my desk. Time for a new desk anyway. I have them sitting on the medium sized Auray pads and they're a good fit, I suppose. A little larger in each dimension than necessary. If I can find a bandsaw, I may cut them down a bit. But I think the small ones would have been too small. Anyway, great speakers.

[Single Monitor] I use the ADAM A8X speakers with my Korg Chronos X keyboard and am amazed at its performance so I knew the A7X would be perfect for a center channel speaker in my surround sound system. This is perfect for vocal clarity and I am not disappointed. Yup I give it a full thumbs-up!

[32 Hz to 50 kHz] A music producer I know recommended Adam A7x7's for my home recording studio. I had been using the classic Yamaha NS 10M studio monitors and always thought they were awful ( even though I knew if I could make something sound good on them, it would sound good on any speakers). I also did a lot of comparative research, which also convinced me to go for the Adam AX7x7s. Glad I went with them. They are great and I couldn't be happier.

[32 Hz to 50 kHz] I use these with a Velodyne MiniVee sub. Stereo soundstage is superb and sweet spot is plenty wide and tall. These were an upgrade from a pair of smaller 5.5 monitors. If you can fit these, get them over a smaller speaker. They are not too large for a small studio or home office. Lift them off the work surface with hardwood boxes or stands (I prefer a wood surface with thick foam sticky pads).

[32 Hz to 50 kHz] This stand does the job with my Adams A7X speakers.

[Vertical] I had some experience with the earlier generation Adam A7. The new A7X model features some very nice improvements. Where the old A7 seemed to be a little subdued in the 40hz range, the A7X goes down to 40 without difficulty and shows signs of audio as low as 28-30hz. It is hard to beat the ribbon tweeters for clarity and stereo imaging. While I do tracking in a pro studio, I purchased a pair of A7Xs for my home setup where I can do editing and basic automation. I am tempted to take these speakers into the pro studio and try some detailed mixing. They are portable and just the right size for me.

[28 x 19 x 16.5"] Absolutely amazing bang for the buck. I needed something exactly in this price range to replace my old JBL LSR series 8” monitors.  Although not on display in the store, I found listening to other monitors very useful to get an idea of similarly priced Genelecs and would still  recommend anyone take a trip in to hear everything in the B&H display room.  My work space is certainly not acoustically perfect, though I try.  Out-of-the-box they sound amazingly clean and accurate even before any calibration I will still do.  Slightly more affordable than the Genelec and Neumann  I am very very happy with this purchase, having gone only on reviews and specs without hearing them first.  At bit of a leap of faith, I trusted Adam knew what they were doing and they did!
