Specifically designed to produce creative selective focus effects, the Lensbaby Composer Pro II Sweet 80 Nikon Ffrom Lensbaby Composer Pro II Sweet 80 Nikon Fpairs the 80mm f/2.8 optic with a lens body for Nikon F-mount cameras. The Sweet 80 is a unique lens, which affords a distinct curved field of focus for producing a sweet spot of focus surrounded by smooth, blurred elements. When coupled with the Composer Pro II, this spot of focus can be moved anywhere within the image area, and changed in dimension, using up to 15° of tilt on the lens body. The optic also features a manual aperture for adjusting the size of the in-focus area and has a 12-blade diaphragm to further contribute to a smooth bokeh quality in the out-of-focus regions. The lens is constructed with four glass elements in two groups, and each of the elements are multi-coated to resist flare and ghosting for high contrast, color-accurate imagery.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it work with Nikon F film camera?

A: As the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F is a fully manual focus lens which uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount, yes, the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F would be compatible for use on a Nikon F-mount 35mm film SLR camera.

Q: 2. what is the difference between the 'sweet' version and the 'edge' version?

A: The main difference would be the shape of the blur/bokeh pattern created by the lens. The Lensbaby "Sweet" lenses create a rounder radial bokeh blur pattern, while the Lensbaby Edge creates a straight 'slice' (think more rectangular) bokeh blur pattern. The size and amount of the blur with both lenses can be controlled by the aperture you choose, and the strength and position of the blur can be controlled by the position of the lens.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with my Olympus OMD-E-M1?

A: Yes, with the Micro 4/3 mount. It was designed for a full frame, so the sweet spot will go off frame sooner due to the smaller sensor. Ive only used it on my E-M 1, though, so I cant say its a problem. Happy shooting!

Q: 4. Is it compatible with d7200 Nikon

A: The Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Micro Four Thirds is not compatible with the Nikon D7200. You need the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/3MKDojR

Q: 5. Can I use this with my Olympus OM-D E-M1?

A: Yes! It will work in Aperture Priority Mode and your in-camera light meter will work or you can shoot in Manual Mode.

Q: 6. Is it compatible with Nikon d300s?

A: Yes, the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F-mount is compatible with your Nikon D300s camera. It will work in Aperture Priority mode and your in-camera light meter will work or you can shoot in Manual mode.

Q: 7. Can I see my own Shutter Speed and ISO when using the Composer Pro II and the Sweet 50 Optic on my Canon 5D Mark IV?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Is the lensbaby compatible with the Nikon D3300?

A: I own the Composer for Canon.. However, I think the D3300 has a standard Nikon F mount.. So, Yes it should work..

Q: 9. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: I've not experienced trouble of this kind. It looks as if Lensbaby are offering to take them back for a fix if your problem persists. But it seems odd that you have the problem for both mounts (I assume two Lensbabies). Seems like you need to undo the tension ring, that is not the front silver ring which operates focus. It is the ring closest to the camera that needs to be turned anti clockwise.

Q: 10. I'm looking for a versatile medium telephto lens for both photo and video. The lensbaby is intriguing. Can I enlarge the in-focus area enough to use it as a true telephoto to capture video simply by stopping down the aperture? Has anyone experience using this lens for video?

A: Hi John, This lens can be used for video but it is not a telephoto lens.

[f/2.8] I am shooting this lens on my Leica M10R with an adapter ring. I can get reasonably sharp focus in the sweet spot but the best feature of this lens is the control of the bokeh and focus fall off creating beautiful dreamy artistic images. I wish I had purchased years ago!

[0.75 lb] Having recently received the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic, I have only used it in a production situation once, and that was a low-light fast-moving event. Manually focusing in low light on moving bodies would be challenging with any lens, and of course the Lensbaby tilt system adds another dimension for the operator.
Obviously, these are specialty, special effects lenses, and they're not intended for action photography, but I did manage to get several pretty cool shots with the Lensbaby (on my Sony a6500), which I look forward to working on in Lightroom. (I won't post them here because I don't have permission from the subjects.)

I find the construction of the Composer II to be solid, the controls seem well-calibrated (and will take some practice to get muscle memory), and I love the look of the Sweet 50. I hope to get more optics; probably a Lensbaby Edge 35mm next, for a normal field of view on APS-C/Super35, and wide on full frame. I like that the optics can be purchased separately for relatively low cost when compared to the price of a whole new lens. I think I'll have fun with this system.

[12] I've known about lensbaby for years, and have watched it evolve - always curious but never felt compelled to give one a shot. I bought this after giving the trio 28 a shot, as I'm now totally in love with lensbaby products. The sweet 35 optic gives a center-focus and blurs the corners. Aperture sets the blur circle and amount. Then you have the tilt function of the housing that allows you to change from center, to the various corners of the frame. The housing doesn't feel too cheap, as it's a combination of metal and hard plastics - It feels more solid and substantial than the canon nifty 50. The images it produces are great, but I am still trying to figure out how to go about shooting with this lens. Do I set the tilt and then find the frame and focus? Or do I find the frame and then shift and then focus? Either way it's time consuming and this lens is best used when you have time to really compose the shots, like portraits. I think for street or quicker paced shooting, the key is to let go of the details and just shoot and be delighted with what you come back with. Fun little lens to spark some creativity.

[Manual Focus] First impressions...Very sharp (I love that!) Has tendency to be a bit boxy. Have not got the closeup filters yet. Tubes work for close-ups. With 20mm tube, very little depth distance that camera will keep things in focus. (You can't move the camera closer or away from the subject much (with the tube), before everything goes way out of focus-unless you want a smaller aperture. But tubes will work at close-ups. Boxyness could be fixed in Photoshop. Very light & small and will be easy to exchange lens. Glad I got Composer Pro which will allow the focus point to move beyond the viewfinder. Easy to carry. Get the close-up filters and case! After not thinking I would keep it, I warmed up after taking sample shots. It is so clear in resolution! I don't think I have a clearer lens! Great addition to my lens collection. Looking forward to getting more optics. Great purchase!

[f/2.8] I am relatively new to the world of Lensbaby, but I love the variety of different creative options that you have with this Lens, particularly the way the tilt lens lets you change the focal point of your image. Like most of the Lensbaby Line, there is quite a learning curve, but it has been a fun, yet sometimes rocky, path to moving forward with the lens.
