The Zacuto Z-Rail Axis Mount 15mm Rod Portis an excellent choice for mounting your Axis Mini EVF Mount onto a camera outfitted with a Z-Rail. It works well with the Zacuto C200 and EVA top plate, and the rod clamp projects forward and up at a 45° angle so that the Axis Mini EVF mount is placed in the ideal working position.

The mount is made from anodized aluminum, with the aluminum providing a good balance between weight and strength and the anodizing providing corrosion protection. Spring-loaded locking levers enable tightening or loosening of either the rod clamp or the Z-Rail clamp, even when you can't rotate the levers fully.

A: Hello, this unit is not designed to connect to additional rods, the rod end is meant to be mounted on a railblock or shoulder pad with dual rod clamps like the SmallRig Shoulder Pad Pro (BH #SM2837 MFR #2837). The plate end is designed to connect to a battery plate like the SmallRig V-Lock Assembly Kit (BH #SM1846C MFR #1846C).

Q: 2. Can you charge the battery using this plate?

Q: 5. What is the weight capacity? Can it handle a magic arm with an Atomos 7" Ninja Inferno and two np-f750 batteries?

A: Niceyrig does not list a weight capacity however I would not recommend using this for a Ninja Inferno. The weight of that monitor with batteries on it may cause the clamp to slip. This product is best suited for smaller lighter weight products such as video transmitters, and microphone receivers.

Q: 6. Is the end of the 15mm rod threaded, so that you can extend it with another rod to mount accessories on the other side of the shoe mount clamp that this will mount to on the camera?

A: Unfortunately no, the 15mm rod is not threaded.

Q: 7. Is there dampening control of Rotating Rosette, or is it fixed? What is max length (center of rosette to center of 15mm rod)?

A: No, the Zacuto Axis Micro EVF Mount is not dampening, but you can add BH #ZAZFRJ which will add dampening to the Zacuto Axis Micro EVF Mount. The max length or the Zacuto Axis Micro EVF Mount is 3.88 inches. Zacuto also offers B&H # ZAZMAEM which has dampening.

Q: 8. Is the cable clamp tightened by the wing nut, or is a separate tool required?

A: This product should work with just the included wing nut screw on the side, which will tighten and loosen the clamp.

Q: 9. Can each port be configured to be a single universe so port 1 is universe 1, port 2 is universe 2, etc? Or are all ports the same universe?

A: Yes you can configure it that way

A: They should match, but we have not performed this specific test and have no means to do so as these are part of a "special order" item, which means that the product drop ships directly from manufacturer.

[2.2 oz / 61 g] I used to use a separate NATO rail + 15mm clamp, but now this all integrated into one piece which makes my ZCAM E2 more compact and lighter weight. This is used to mount my follow-focus motor. It also keeps the center of gravity closer to the camera which is easier to balance on a gimbal. The nato rail portion allows me to mount an SSD holder too as my ZCAM E2 can record to SSD. 5

[0.15 lb] I got this to add a nato rail to a top handle so I could quickly mount a Zacuto Micro Boom. It’s great for that, but the Micro Boom tightening lever is a little long and won’t clear the bottom of the rail if it needs to be tightened a lot which just means it may take a few seconds longer to put the Micro Boom on. The screw slot on the Mini Z-Rail is big enough to accommodate two screws but the anti twist design makes it secure with jut one screw. 5

I bought this from a friend's recommendation for a monitor that had a single 1/4-20 thread and nothing else to prevent the nato rail from slipping. Will likely purchase more in the future for my other units. 5

[2.2 oz / 61 g] The problem with every single articulated arm I've ever had, or seen is that at some point the thing will come loose and let it's load swing around. I've even tried 3d printing a bracket that encases a quick release mount. Kinda works but what a pimple on the backside of progress. This thing just works, completely solving the problem. 5
