Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this work with kodak polycontrast iii?

A: Yes, it similar to Dektol.

Q: 2. How many 35mm rolls can this develop?

A: According to Ilford, 500ml at 1+9 will process 16 135/36 films.

Q: 3. Can i develop film with this?

A: I have never used this developer on film. It is designed for B&W photographic print paper. I use Rodinal to process my film.

Q: 4. new to developing film. I have a question so if I am using this to develop one roll of tri-x film how much developer do I use with water? I am having trouble understanding the ratio when it says 1:9? And fixer?

A: I don't remember the water-to-developer ratio for Ilfosol, but using the 1:9 ratio you mention - 1:9 means 1 part developer to 9 parts water. So, when developing one roll of film, determine how much mixed developer you need - often you can find this info on the bottom of your developing tank - for example, my developing tank says I need 300ml to develop one roll of 35mm (135) film, so for this I would mix 30ml of developer with 270ml of water. As for fixer, the ratio of concentrate to water depends on which fixer you are using. I use Ilford Rapid Fixer, which is mixed at a 1:4 ratio (1 part concentrate to 4 parts water). So with the 300ml tank mentioned above, I would mix 60ml of fixer concentrate to 240ml of water. In my experience, with mixing ratios, the low number is the for the concentrate and the higher number is for water.Hope this helps and good luck.

Q: 5. Can I develop films with this?

A: Technically, yes. But for best results, you are significantly better off using actual film developer. Times and results will vary greatly because the concentration/strength/developing time and grain structure will be quite different. You will also have to experiment with dilution for best results.

Q: 6. How long will the developer last once opened?

A: Full unopened bottles of Ilford MULTIGRADE developer concentrates stored in cool conditions, 5–20ºC, (41–68ºF), will keep for 2 years. Once opened, use the concentrate completely within six months and keep all bottles tightly sealed until used. Working strength MULTIGRADE developer left in an open dish should not be kept for more than one working day. If stored in a tightly capped bottle, a working strength solution may last up to 24 hours.

Q: 7. What is the shelf-life of this developer?

A: It ranges depending on storage conditions. Unopened it should be fine up to 1.5 years. Once opened if can range between 3-6 months.

Q: 8. Does it have a shelf life or go off? I've had a bottle for a couple of years and haven't needed to use it till now and wasn't sure if I still could

A: If the bottle was not opened, it should still be good.

Q: 9. Is Rollei Supergrain considered a one-shot developer?

A: Yes. Rollei Supergrain Film Developer is considered a one shot developer.

Q: 10. What is the shelf life once opened?

A: Adox only states about 12-24 months from the date of production because there are too many variables involved after a bottle if opened. Please take a look at the following link for more information from Adox about storage: https://bhpho.to/3X02ORM

[Liquid] This was a replacement for Dektol that turned coffee brown with water added.

Customer service was clumsy with the issue. I complained. B @ H quickly sent me a liquid replacement. This rating is to say they stand behind their products. You can trust these folks.

[1.25 lb] personal darkrooms are in basements, and this developer does bring a kool comfortable warmth to the ilford warmtone fiber papers i mainly use in this basement boy's cold darkroom.
1:9 dilution makes it last, come on in, the water is warm!

[Paper Developer] Responded well to Fomatone FB as an orange tone. Used at lower dilution but worked well for making lith prints, and 2nd pass.

[1.25 lb] Fist time making Lith prints. I really love the deep chocolate colors I am getting with this developer and selenium toning. Also I was able to get a print from an unprintable negative with regular chemistry. Great product.

[1.25 lb] I make changes to chemistry very reluctantly. I'm on my second bottle of ECO 4812 and find no reason to ever go back. It is wonderful! I like a lot of the Moerch toners, also.

[Paper Developer] I switched to PQ when Kodak stopped making Ektaflo type 2, and found it to be similar. Lovely with warmtone paper. Liquid concentrate that lasts longer than you need.
