A Tiffen FL-D filter is used when you wish to correct for the greenish tone that appears when shooting daylight film under general purpose fluorescent lighting.

This filter is glass and measures 100 x 100 mm (4x4") x 4 mm thick.

NOTE: The FL series of filters alone does not always guarantee 100% correct color balance when shooting under fluorescent lighting. They are general purpose filters intended for moderate correction and will not, by themselves, necessarily provide perfect color rendition.

An FL-W filter is used to balance daylight film under warm white or white type fluorescent lamps. An FL-B filter is used to correct the color balance when shooting tungsten film under fluorescent lighting.

Fluorescent lamps burn at many different temperatures and often require more demanding filtration for exact results. For specific filtration and professional use, it is strongly recommended that a color temperature meter be employed along with Color Correction filters (i.e.CC30M) when shooting under fluorescent lighting. This is the only proven way to achieve exact color correction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, why does this filter seems to take two slots space when placed in the back slot of the Cokin P holder ? Only the front slot seems to be available when I put this filter. For example, CP + ND10 is possible but not CP + GND + ND10.

A: I just put the CP in the backmost slot, therefore taking up the very thin slot at back and one regular slot in front of it. Then I slid in both the dark gray and light gray filters into the two slots in front of the CP without any problem.

Q: 2. Will this filter fit the Cokin Z-Pro Filter Holder?

A: This is the P CPL filter which is small than Z-PRO.

Q: 3. I have a canon EFS 18-55mm lens that I want to put a portrait glass filter on. Which filter is the correct one for my lens?

A: Your lens would have a 58mm filter thread. This model would be correct:Hoya 58mm Portrait Glass FilterB&H # HOP58Q ? Mfr # S58PORTRAIT

Q: 4. What factors are considerations in deciding between Canon 72mm UV Protector Lens ($34) verses Canon 72mm Circular Polarizing Lens ($159) for the lens I just purchased from you, Canon EF 85 mm f/1.2L USM (order no. 502379850). Thank you in advance.

A: A UV filter is basically a clear protection filter that works well for protecting your lens from scratches and smudges. A polarizing filter is helpful when shooting on bright sunny days as it reduces reflection and glare, and it also saturates the sky and gives your photos a nice rich and dark blue color.

Q: 5. Is there a way to use this filter with the HITECH HT85AMH filter holder.? What accessory pieces do I need to adapt the holder for this filter?

A: You need to adjust the thickness of one slot to match this filter, then it will slide in the same as a rectangular filter.

Q: 6. Will the FL-50R work with Pocket Wizard transceivers?

A: Yes, the Olympus FL-50R will work with anything besides the Flex/Mini, but would require the PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable (3') http://bhpho.to/1fijrYT, as it does not have a PC sync terminal.

Q: 7. Is the flash Olympus FL-50R compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II ?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 8. Does this polarizing filter fit in Cokin P series? I have a 77mm lens?

A: I was in Alaska and tried to use the polarizing filter and could not get it to go in the P sized filter holder. I have not had the time to contact b&h photo to see what is what. Two things I should have done, make sure that the filter would fit, asking them to try it before they shopped it. When I received it make sure it fit with my p sized holder. Still not sure what is wrong. . .It was to late to exchange it by the time we got back from our trip. A very expensive mistake.

Q: 10. What thread pitch has this filter?
