A: Yes, the AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer can be configured as a 1x4 distribution amplifier.

Q: 2. What would happen if you tried to input one source as 1080p59.94 and another source as 1080p60 (or anything besides 1080p59.94, etc)? Understood the unit will not scale, but will it accept the alt source or just appear black?

A: The AJA KUMO 1616 will route the signal coming in to the desired output but no changes will occur in frame rate or format.

Q: 3. Will it down convert two separate 6G SDI inputs into two separate 3G SDI outputs? What about four to four of the same scenario?

A: No, the AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer reclocks signals and does not convert down or up. You will need an AJA UDC Up/Down/Cross Converter which handles one signal at a time.

Q: 4. Does the AJA Kumo 1616 support 1080i50 input & output?

A: No, this does not support 1080i50. It gets close but no cigar.

Q: 5. can this be configured as a 4x4 distro amp to simiply pass through each signal in a 4x camera setup to extend max cable length?

A: The AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer would be a very expensive distribution box. Instead use the Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI Distribution, for $165.00.

A: It does not. This is not a clean switch.

A: This unit does not have scaling built in. All Resolutions and Frame Rates need to match before it reaches the Kumo 3232 Router.

A: AJA does have plans to release a future firmware update supporting Dolby Vision for the AJA Hi5-12G 12G-SDI to HDMI 2.0 Mini-Converter, but unfortunately it hasn't been released yet.

A: This supports outputs up to UHD 4K60. It should work well for 24fps.

[11.88 Gbps] Basically in this price range it comes down to AJA or BlackMagic, I've worked with both & knowing that AJA tends to be a bit pricier, I 100% prefer the KUMO over the BMD 20x20 or 40x40 Physically the SDI connectors are spaced well versus BlackMagic, even with all connections loaded up I can quickly adjust by hand without the need of a trompeter if the situation arises. The Kumo is also way thinner & operates at a much lower temp, giving me a little peace of mind if I need to spec a quick fly pack that has less than optimal ventilation. The web UI is great & the unit saves all your settings independently of what computer you are using over the network. I know I can prep the KUMO for a gig, send it out & all my button mapping & labels will not change no matter who is looking at it or what computer they are using (unlike the BMD which is a session based setting via saved XML file). Basically its a solid router, if you can afford it & it has the # of ins/outs ya need. You can't go wrong. 5

[12G-SDI] This is currently the lowest price 12G SDI Video SFP. Used in BlackmagicDesign's Optical fiber 12G. Combined with ARIB or SMPTE camera cable, CAM and RET transmission equipment can be made. Excellent! 5

[7.05 oz] I purchased this product to record HD news coverage of events pertaining to my work so I could include the coverage in various video programs. I connected the converter to a cable box and and a DVCPro-HD deck. It works beautifully! Both video and audio are indistinguishable from the original signal coming from the cable box. 5

[Video extender] The signal quality out of the T-Tap pro is outstanding -- nice to not worry about Quicktime playback gamma issues anymore. And Aja tech support is second to none. Just like a pro device should be. One thing to note is that playback through the T-Tap pro must be via compatible software e.g, Adobe Premier, or by using the Aja Control Room player software. This is not like having a another monitor on your Mac -- you can not stream videos from Safari through it or simply use the Quicktime player app with it. 5

[7.05 oz] The device is improved in a number of ways over the previous generation. It's smaller, feels stronger, and has a threaded locking power supply port. It is a little awkward that you have to add your own SFP module, which is not exactly immediately clear, but it does keep the cost quite low for anyone needing only 1080 resolution. The 12G stuff makes this product more expensive than its 4k predecessor, so that's a drawback. But, having bi-directional function on these is a lifesaver in all sorts of situations - not the least of which is sending a confidence monitor signal to any given camera position, which really helps in engineering live events. 5
