The super matte black Korg KROSS 2 is a mobile synthesizer workstation with a 61-key, velocity-sensitive keyboard. Combining a synth, sequencer, sampler, recorder, and audio interface in one compact and lightweight unit, it provides musicians and composers alike with the tools for writing and recording original music, or for performing as a one-man band or in a group.

The KROSS 2  offers 1000+ preset sounds, 120 voices of polyphony, 134 effects, and 128MB of built-in expansion PCM memory for optional sound libraries as they become available (available separately). The workstation is equipped with a sampling function that provides 16 playable pads for triggering samples or full audio tracks.

For production applications, the KROSS 2 comes with a 16-track MIDI sequencer, a step sequencer, an arpeggiator, and a drum track. A stereo audio recorder enables you to record your performance or overdub an external input source—such as vocals—directly to an SD card (available separately).

The workstation features a user-friendly layout with real-time controls that let you easily access desired sounds and functions on the fly. You can quickly store and recall your favorite programs and combinations, and layers/splits are simple to set up thanks to a dedicated button.

In addition to USB MIDI interface functionality, the USB audio interface enables you to connect the KROSS 2 to your Mac or Windows computer and enjoy DAW recording. You can also use the instrument for playing in conjunction with your iPad or iPhone. The keyboard is powered by either six AA batteries or with the included AC adapter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it portable?

A: Yes, the Korg D1 can be used as a portable digital piano. It is considered lightweight.

Q: 2. I'm hoping someone can comment on the synth keyboard action. I have a Krome 73 and I've never been with the key action (everything else about it is fine). It's been a good enough board that I've played it for 9 years, but I'm hoping my next synth-action keyboard will be significantly better than the Krome. Any comments on the quality or the Nautilus synth key action?

A: KKorg Nautilus 73 Music Workstation BH #KONAUTILUS73 offers a73-Key, Natural Touch Semi-Weighted Keyboard that is very comfortable and responsive for a workstation of this weight and build quality. The full size 88-key version offers a fully weighted hammer-action keyboard.

Q: 3. does this fit a pa4x 61 key?

A: The internal dimensions of the Korg Soft Case for KROSS 61 or KROSS2 61 are unavailable and would therefore not make this product a valid candidate as a case for the Korg PA4x keyboard.

Q: 4. Hi I have an old Roland KC-150 4-CH mixing keyboard amplifier. Will this amplifier work with the BK-3? If so, with what cords?

A: Yes, the KC-150 will be compatible with the Roland BK-3 61-key Backing Keyboard (Black). You will need a dual-1/4" TS to dual-1/4" TS such as B&H # HOHSS003X2.

Q: 5. One of the reviews says this doesn't work with bluetooth on iOS/iPadOS 14 and newer - is this true?

A: Yes, that is currently true, but Korg may provide an update for Bluetooth compatibility with iOS 14 and iOS 15. The Korg microKEY AIR-61 Bluetooth Midi Keyboard Controller is currently only compatible with iOS 14 and iOS 15 when using a wired connection with an adapter like the Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter (B&H # APMK0W2AMA).

Q: 6. is there a "gate reverb" effect for snare drum or toms?

A: Looking at Korg web page, it does not mention specifically, "gate reverb" tho it does include software. (the DAW and possibly the Izotope may include dynamic controls, like the gate/reverb) Contacting KORG USA 316 S Service Rd Melville, NY 11747 631-390-6500 From Korg Page: Free bundle of music software The NAUTILUS comes with a diverse variety of music software from Izotope including “Ozone Elements” which lets you not only create songs but also master them using AI, “Skoove” which will help you improve your keyboard playing skills, “Reason Lite” DAW software, as well as software synths from KORG and other brands. In other words, the moment you get your hands on this synthesizer you'll have a variety of tools to help you take your music to the next level.

Q: 7. Can I load my own soundfonts into this ?

A: You can not load your own sound samples into this item. You can use this device as a MIDI controller if you want to control sounds from a DAW or external module. As well, you can edit the internal sounds via Roland's Ax-Edge Editor app.

Q: 8. Does the half damper pedal work well with this keyboard?

A: Yes, a half-damper pedal such as the Korg DS1H Piano Half Damper Switch (B&H # KODS1H) can be used with the Nautilus 61.

Q: 9. Can you record entire songs on the keyboard or it is just a short sequence that may be recorded?

A: You can arrange entire songs on the Korg Nautilus 73 Music Workstation.

Q: 10. do have musis stand of korg pa 900?

A: No, we do not have a replacement music stand for the Korg Pa900 but you should be able to get it directly from Korg.

[Arp button] I have had many keyboards and the Korg i3 is my latest and I am loving it. Getting together with my band menbers doesn't happen often enought for me but with the i3 I am able to play with the backing tracks and get what I need to create and fill out new ideas. It is easy to learn and sounds are very good ... of course it's not a Nord or a Kronos... which cost 4 or 7 times more. The piece and the price are well worth the purchase...and *Note- since Korg has started dropping the street price of this little beauty I'm thinking it may about to be replaced or worse ...just disappear like the old original Korg i3 first generation from decades ago(1993). If you are interested in an rompler/arranger type keyboard you should get this one while you can...and the lowered price for this make it a ridiculously good deal that shouldn't be missed.

[12.2 lb] I was looking for something portable that had great sounds and configurability. This is it. It's light, has great key action and tons of great sounds.

[1/480] I can't believe how much power and potential is packed into this machine. Knowing that you can tweak and edit 128 individual sounds infinite ways (seriously, the combinations are only limited by what you stop at) was the biggest draw to this. I've heard of many professional acts who swear by the Microkorg, and it's obvious why: you simply can't beat what it offers in size, power, and price. Needless to say, I love mine!

[1/480] The vocoder is extremely easy to use, but, the coolest thing about the microKORG is just how versatile it is. The sounds that come out of it range from Church Organs to Daft Punk. It's also got MIDI capabilities as well. I use this for live shows and it brings the house down.

[41.5 x 14 x 6"] I've had this synthesizer for a little less than a year now, but have owned the original Microkorg since 2010 or so. Man! This thing is pumped with all the improvements you wish you had in the original Minikorg! The Speaker ultimately made this synth a must have for me, and it's really solidified my opinion on how great it is! I no longer have to unpack my amp, or configure a chain of signal routing just to get a sound from my Microkorg. This thing allows me to turn it on, and jam out in the open air. No headphones, or amps required. The New sound bank is cool, but not really anything to ditch your old Korg for. What's impactful is the D-bank of empty patches, that you can sculpt and save for. Now I'm no longer deleting factory presets when I create a cool sound. The vocoder is nice, and upgraded with 8 new Vocoder patches. The one we all want (A Dry Input) has now been installed, as well as a few robot voices, and sound that aren't so cheap. The color is kinda bland, but a few sticks never hurt anybody. The LED colors have been modified as well, in a better way. If you've never owned a Microkorg and have always thought about buying one, I HIGHLY recommend you get this! It's a GREAT started toy into synthesis, and when you really get into the bare bones of sculpting waveforms in the menus, you'll find you can do so much with this synth.

[12.2 lb] The microKORG is so very versatile, integration into any set up is simple and full of satisfaction. I use the microKorg as an integral piece in my Recording Studio, MPC/APC Production Station and my DJ System as well. So, I have two of these and a third available for my use any time. If you Create Music the microKorg is an Invaluable tool. Dub Step, Techno, Hip Hop and Electronica producers Get one. Great for movie sound producers. The QUALITY is top of the line every time. Awesome is as awesome does. Dno Bravo
