It is made of aluminum alloy and reaches a maximum height of 59.1" with its column extended, folding down to 15.7" in length for simplified transport in its included carrying case.

Each leg of the Befree Advanced is composed of four sections, which can be adjusted and secured in seconds thanks to the M-lock twist locks that operate with a simple 90° turn. A side-pull selector allows you to set up the tripod at three different angle configurations, enabling low angle shooting with the simple push of a button. Complementing the legs is an equally sturdy center ball head, which offers a dedicated knob for panoramic movement as well as a friction control knob for precise control over the tension during use. The final element is a quick release plate, which offers dual compatibility for RC2 and Arca-type compatible systems, except for the Manfrotto 804-3W and MH804-3W tripod heads.

An Easy Link attachment is available at the top portion of the leg section, and allows you to connect compatible accessories such as flashes or reflectors. This enables you to use the tripod as a support system and reduce the amount of gear you need to carry while travelling. Rubberized feet are used to avoid skidding and help keep the Befree Advanced stable in most types of terrain. A: No, it is not. The Manfrotto 200PL-Pro Aluminium Plate included with the Manfrotto 494 Ball Head on the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod is a specially designed quick release plate; it is compatible with both the Manfrotto RC2 Quick Release System and the Arca-Swiss Quick Release System. However, the Manfrotto 494 Ball Head on the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod is ONLY compatible with Manfrotto's RC2 quick release plates and the aforementioned 200PL-Pro plate; the head itself is NOT compatible with Arca-Swiss type quick release plates. As such, no, the Joby UltraFit Hand Strap with UltraPlate would not be compatible for use with the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod.

Q: 4. Will the head accept the old QR plate from Manfrotto? I have 190 pro and I’d like to use the same QR plate I have now

A: This cannot, as is, be a true video tripod. The ball head is meant only for holding a camera in one position during exposure. That is termed a lock off in movie terms and if that is what you need, then you are good. However, to be a true video tripod you need the head to be a fluid type so during the take you can smoothly pan and tilt with the subject. A: Sorry, Manfrotto does not make this model in carbon fiber.

A: The ball head is removable. The bare tripod has a 3/8 inch threaded male mount for attaching different heads.

A: Unfortunately no. I can recommend the Sirui monopod however.

[18 x 5 x 5"] This is a light weight versatile tripod. It packs down small and fits into my backpack and is ideal for trail hiking and traveling. In the three weeks that I have had this tripod I have been using it and have had no complaints. 5

[Yes] Nice and compact for travel, yet still able to firmly hold camera (D7200) and a medium sized telephoto lens or wide angle. The ball head never slipped and although not quite as stable with legs fully extended as an 055 more than adequate if you work within its limitations. Glad I got it and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a very stable travel tripod and would have no qualms about getting another one if something happened to it . 5

[18 x 5 x 5"] I was using a tripod from Amazon and the legs would pull all the way out and were had to reassemble so I wanted a solid tripod with legs that would positively lock without guessing. I don't need panning so this is a tripod that meets my needs. So esy to set up and use. 5

[18 x 5 x 5"] This tripod turned out to be much stronger and better built than I imagined. I have been very impressed with the strength, quality, adjustments, and flexibility of the unit. And certainly, it folds into a small package without much sacrifice on total height. To me the flip locks are more useful than the twist locks. I would have considered the carbon model if it had twist locks. I originally planned to use a RRS-30 ball head on this tripod but the ball head that comes with the unit seems well done where I won't be needing the RRS-30. 5

[Aluminum] I am quite happy with my new travel tripod. I have a larger (and more complicated Manfrotto) but it is too much work to take it apart to fit in my suitcase. This one fits perfectly in the narrow end of my suitcase. I am taking it with me to Las Vegas in two weeks. 5

[Yes] First off, I love the load capacity on this tripod! I work with an Sony A7SII with a Smallrig Cage along with a Atomos Ninja V monitor. This tripod handled all of the load! I've even left my camera system on the tripod head for more than a couple hours and it just stayed still. Of course with the size and aluminum body, it does shake easy, so I'm not sure how it it would work on a windy day yet. 5
