[Nylon] The sandbag is a simple product with a simple function. What I think sets this one apart is that it's very well constructed as all PortaBrace products I've used over the past 20 years have been. I like that the ballast contents are essentially double-bagged to help prevent spilling. Sure, it costs more but it's also a proven quality brand that's made in Vermont, USA. That's gotta count for something for US customers.

[2] Ended up using these to make 25lb shot bags. They are super-durable, as all porta brace products are, and easily stand up to the additional weight.

[Zipper] Have been loving these. Didn't think I would really use the removable clip but turns out it has been super helpful. Can't beat the quality of PortaBrace for all their gear, super durable!

[Saddle Bag] High quality rugged design -- built to last. Separate inner pouch with velcro seal that goes inside the zippered compartments on either side. Instead of sand, I used aquarium gravel to fill the inner pouches. Tiny pebbles are smooth with less risk of any leakage.

[Zipper] Yes you pay more for PortaBrace but the quality is undeniable. I choose to use tiny aquarium pebbles instead of sand. Don't have to worry about sand getting anywhere near my photo gear. Most Pet stores of Aquarium stores sell the in 5 and 25lb bags

[2] The design and build quality of Portabrace products is hard to match. They are designed and manufactured in Vermont by Americans. But that's only the frosting on the cake. After buying one of these sandbags last year for a shoot I did on the east coast, I just purchased two more, for an upcoming shoot in Colorado. If you have to travel, but still need to set up lights, reflectors, scrims, flags, or cookies, you need to secure them with sandbags. These refillable sandbags are the Cadillac of refillable sandbags. The removable inner pouch actually keeps the sand, dirt, or rocks very contained, even enough to keep the outer pocket clean. This is helpful because I have found occasion to use the empty sand bag to protect items like books, etc. when nothing else is available. When you have to fly to a location, pop a couple of these in with your gear, fill them on location, and it's just like working off a grip truck. They're designed and sewn to last for decades, maybe more. I would challenge anyone to find a refillable sandbag that is built better than this one by Portabrace.
