Pulling the unit in and out of the bag is pretty quick and I've had plenty of time to change batteries between shots at location jobs where I use phantom power all day for external shotgun mics. Another option to bypass the need for accessing the battery compartment at all is to get a small external rechargeable power pack that can supply 5v of power to the H6 via the mini USB jack.
