Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this for one light, or for a pair of lights?

A: The pair.

Q: 2. will this unit be compatible to use the Kaiser Camera Stand Light Protector (BH #KAELPR1)?

A: Yes, the Kaiser Camera Stand Light Protector, BH #KAELPR1 is compatible with this copy stand.

Q: 3. Will this be capable using it with darkroom enlarger, enlarging 120 & 35mm films? On 8x10 paper? And what about enlarging 4x5 films?

A: Regarding the Kaiser Repro Kid Copy Stand Kit (Consists of 23.25" Calibrated Column, 15 x 12.5" Baseboard (B&H# KACSKKQ), I would say no. Enlargers typically have larger and more robust columns to ensure greater stability. I would not recommend using any copy stand for an enlarger with any size paper or film. First, it likely will not fit. Second, copy stands are typically used with cameras that can utilize a faster shutter speed than one you would use when producing an enlargement. That is why the columns of a copy stand can be less robust. I'd recommend sticking with enlarger-related equipment when using an enlarger.

Q: 4. How far out from the column can the camera be (horizontally) extended?

A: It can be extended from 6.5-10".

Q: 5. Can the camera be mounted in two different ways ... meaning 1.) with the VIEWFINDER towards the column and 2.) the other way, with the TRIPOD HOLE (of the camera) towards the column?

A: No.

Q: 6. What is the screw size for the camera mount?

A: A regular camera mount screw, 1/4-20".

Q: 7. Joseph's answer to my 1/4/21 question was not helpful. I don't see how it is possible to mount a ball head on the Kaiser 20531copy stand. Can you please try again and explain how this can be done?

A: ******Duplicate *******Delete*********

Q: 8. How can one level a camera when mounted on this copy stand to insure that it is level when copying/scanning negatives?

A: You can put any level on the camera or stand.

Q: 9. How is the camera height adjusted? I see a knob on the rear of the arm, does the column have a geared system (turning the knob makes fine adjustments), or is it held in place by tension (turning the knob loosens and tightens the clamp)?

A: The center column has a tension control knob that allows a end-user to lower or rise the unit.

Q: 10. Will this column fit on the Kaiser Grid Baseboard with Levelling Feet - 23 x 31.5 ?

A: Yes it will work with a Kaiser Grid Baseboard with Leveling Feet in the 23 x 51.5 size.

[AC Input] DO NOT BUY THE KID REPRO, it is cheap and unstable, for kids like the title may suggest. this is the lowest model I would consider.

[AC Input] So for I'm happy with the RS2 copy stand. It's sturdy, and easy to use. The mechanism works smoothly to move the camera up and down. It's not as adjustable as the RS1, but using an Arca Swiss plate, once you get it aligned, you don't have to do it again so not a big deal. it's quite expensive for what it is, but that seems to be the case for anything today, and much of what you buy today isn't well made. This seems well made.
I'm using with D850 to copy various prints, slides and negatives. I'll likely use the ES-2 Nikon accessory to copy individual transparency frames, but I'm using this stand to make images of my full rolls of negs in PrintFile as contact sheets, with a 60mm Micro lens. Had hoped to use my Tamron 90, but didn't have the angle of view needed so had to buy the 60. Do test that the working distance of this stand will work with your chosen lens. As I said, it didn't with my 90mm lens for one of my intended uses.
I also got a Kaiser slimlite plano light table to light the transparencies, and that also works well.
