The RRS LCF-12 Replacement Foot for Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VRfrom RRS LCF-12 Replacement Foot for Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VRis designed specifically for the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens. To use this foot, the LC-A14 replacement collar must also be used.

The replacement foot is compatible with most Arca-type clamps, and the double-dovetail design allows accessories to attach to the bottom or the top of the foot. The LCF-12 gives the lens a lower profile and a lower center of gravity than the one originally supplied with the lens. This provides for better balance and stability when attached to a tripod.

The lens foot is CNC machined from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminum, and it has been Type II anodized with a durable black finish. Two safety stops located on the bottom of the foot prevent the lens from sliding out of a partially open clamp. Additionally, located on the bottom of the plate are a QD (Quick Disconnect) socket for attaching a strap, as well as a 1/4"-20 for mounting directly to a tripod.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible with Magpul Sling?

A: The Magpul QDM quick disconnect swivels do not have a screw mount so they cannot attach to this lens foot.

Q: 2. Dies it work with 70-200mm f2.8 GII ED?

A: The GII is an earlier model than the newer ED version of Nikons 70-200 2.8 VR. If you have the older model, this lens foot will not fit properly. RRS makes a lens foot specifically for the G version.

Q: 3. The RRS LCF-11 seems way over priced. I can get the, Kirk LP-64 Replacement Lens Foot for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens for $80. Does anyone know if their is a just cause for a $40 difference?

A: I have both the RRS on my 500PF and the Kirk on my 70-200mm. Both are first rate. The RRS has the ability to use the Magpul QD strap which the Kirk does not. Is it worth the extra $40? It is to me.

Q: 4. Will this foot prevent accidental release?

A: Yes it will

Q: 5. How do you replace the foot. On my friends 200-500 Nikkor. It appears that the original foot/collar are one piece.

A: Hi Candice! This piece is only intended to replace the foot on the Really Right Stuff LC-A14, which is meant to replace the original Nikon collar on the 200-500mm f/5.6E. If your intentional is to replace the original foot and collar from Nikon, this would be the correct item to get: https://bhpho.to/3baHsrd

Q: 6. Will it be able to make the lens stands horizontally by itself?

A: Yes. It will stand horizontally both with a body and without.

Q: 7. How to adapt it to Manfrotto MVH500 head ?

A: You may use the Kirk QR-AB1QR Universal Quick Release Adapter with Quick Release Clamp, B&H # KIQRAB1QR which will convert your MVH500 to an Arca compatible clamp system. https://bhpho.to/2XvBJFt

Q: 8. Is this foot any LESS rigid than the Wimberly 553 foot with the lower profile?I would love to have the HANDLE capability of the 554, but I don't want to sacrifice rigidity for it.Thanks,Dan

A: It is not less rigid. They are about the same.Using the shorter one gives you a better center of gravity and some prefer that for such a large lens. But either one will work.

Q: 9. How long is the foot ?

A: The foot on the Really Right Stuff LC-A14 PKG is 4.3" (10.9 cm) long.

Q: 10. Is this mount compatible with the footing on the new Nikkor Z 600mm/f4 VR S lens?

A: The AP-554 will not fit but the AP-502 will. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/3BLwbwl

[0.245 lb] This adapter is not only longer, but also already has the Arca-swiss style grooves built in, which eliminates the extra step of screwing on a plate onto your foot of your heavy/ hard to manage long lens. Also, it has the screw holes already built into it so that you can directly mount your lens to a monopod. A must if you have these lenses and want to eventually invest in a sidekick.

[Aluminum] This replacement foot works great on the wimberley heads and being longer than the nikon standard is easyer to grab.

[0.245 lb] Quality is top notch, and was a great addition to my Nikon 500mm f/4. Foot is perfectly machined and finish is nice. Wimberley includes a nice T-handle hex wrench which I greatly appreciated. Very satisfied.

[0.245 lb] It was very easy to change the original lens foot with Wimberley's, and the fit in the gimbal head was perfect

[0.245 lb] Thanks to B&H for supporting RRS equipment, which is the best on the market, IMHO.

[Aluminum] This is my second AP-554. I had one on my 200-400mm lens and this one will go on a 300mm f/2.8 This should be standard on the heavy Nikon glass. It's much better than the stock foot which is too short and too flimsy plus there is no need for a tripod plate since it has the arca-swiss groove built in. You can also install 2 small hex safety screws at the ends of the plate to prevent the lens from falling off your ball head. It can also be used as a handle to transport the lens comfortably. I think it's cheap considering how much better it is than the regular Nikon footers.

[Aluminum] Hard to understand why when everyone uses a Arca-Swiss mount on a tripod with super telephotos why Nikon fails to provide this foot as standard on a $8400 lens. This Wimberley foot is a perfect replacement and is a big improvement over the Nikon or other mounts like the one from Really Right Stuff. The Wimberley is long enough to balance the lens properly with a camera attached and it has a double grove so that a flash bracket can be mounted to the plate as well. Another very nice touch is the addition of safety stops in the form of two small hex socket head screws. If you have ever loosened a Arca-Swiss or similar holder and had your expensive lens start to slide you will realize that these two safety stops are actually essential. I would not use a foot that did not have these provided. The new Wimberley provides excellent balance with the use of the Wimberely Sidekick which is another great innovation of theirs. The Sidekick changes a ball head into a gimbal head in 5 seconds - much better than carrying around two heads and or two tripods into the field.

[Aluminum] The Nikon foot is useless (really, for 8000 smackers they couldn't include a usable foot?). This foot is all you'll want, stable, low-profile, and of course it mates perfectly with the Wimberley head. The only problem I've had with it is that the screws will occasionally loosen, so keep that Allen wrench handy when you go in the field.
