A: Camvate does not list a weight capacity for this arm. However similar sized arms tend to have a load capacity of no more than 5 pounds. Also this arm is really designed to handle an accessory, not a camera itself.

Q: 2. Plastic or metal? Can the parts handle enough torque to keep ball sockets from rotating if there's any breeze when holding an umbrella?

A: The parts are sturdy to hold all the equipment together. We can't guarantee that everything would stay in place no matter the weather conditions. However, light conditions should not be a problem.

A: The ball joints has spikey "teeth" that helps the joints tighten securely without slipping.

A: The jaws of the clamp will not accomodate a 12" truss tube.

A: While the CAMVATE Magic Arm Ball Head with 5/8" Light Stand Socket could receive the baby pin and the 1/4"-20 end could screw into a 1/4"-20 female thread on a tripod, a Macbook Pro and tray would likely be too heavy for this arm.

A: Clamp Opens from 0.4 to 2.2".

[3] I use it to hold camera remotes exactly where I need them. A pin in the 1/4 thread holes allowed me to add a Varizoom rocker on the same assembly. This is a versatile problem-solving widget. 5

[1/4"-20 Male ] I really like using this clamp arm. I use it to secure a field monitor to my camera stand for church services. We rent so I needed something sturdy but quick and easy to manipulate. I don't think I was ever in a situation where it wasn't able to do what I wanted it to. The build quality is excellent, and the single knob that locks the whole arm in place very securely is so convenient. I would fully recommend this arm. 5

[0.4 lb] I needed something to hold my video camera while offroading in Utah in a rented Jeep. It had to be something substantial without leaving any permanent sign of having been there. The crab clamp gripped the passenger side dashboard grab bar firmly while the magic arm held the camera above the dash without shaking while moving down the trail. The result? Some fantastic videos that I will cherish for years to come. 5

[0.4 lb] This is arm is for pro use and I have no issues with its usability. Please note that the arm are not as lightweight as the other brands. This is only a issue if you are running and gunning, but again quality is close to perfection. Highly recommend this product. 5

[3] These are really high quality components. Articulation can be a nit tricky bc of the shape and size of the clamp. Outside of that they are easy to adjust and super rigitd. They also look noce. 5
