The 82mm Tiffen #47 Blue Filter 82mmfrom Tiffen #47 Blue Filter 82mmis a filter designed to build contrast in black and white photography and creating separation between the tones. For landscape photography the filter will enhance haze and fog, which creates a more dramatic look. Skin tones are lightened for more detail and contrast control. Normally, the filter is intended for B&W photography, but can also be used in color photography to make special effects. The filter has a filter factor of 4.5, so you must increase by 2 1/3 of a stop for your exposure to compensate.

Tiffen filters are not dyed, but are manufactured by using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass and grinding down and polishing the glass. The glass is finally mounted to the metal ring, which could finally be screwed onto the lens for the desired effect.

A: If you stack two of the Tiffen 82mm Digital HT Neutral Density Filters on a 16-35mm lens you could get vignetting if the lens is on a full frame camera and you are at 16mm.

A: The Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS lens has a 62mm front filter thread.

A: I use mostly an 18-270 telephoto lens with polarizing filter and have found there is minor vignetting up to focal length around 24-30mm. Certainly nothing a minor crop can't fix. Very happy with the speed of changing filters.

Q: 4. since this filter use two polarizing filters to achieve blocking of the light, will this cause uneven distribution of the light, depending on the shooting angle?

A: As long as you are within the lens specifications you will not experience any uneven light distribution. I have never had a problem unless using at the dense or dark end of the limit and with a wide focal length on zoom or a wide angle lens

A: This filter will fit any lens with a 58mm filter thread. Look at your lens, usually near the end of the lens the filter size is marked next to a O with a slash through it. This indicates diameter. Otherwise, you can look up the specs of your lens filter diameter on your manufacturers website, or through the B&H website.

[Single Coated] I use this softening filter in certain landscape situations, not necessarily for portraiture. And guess what, that can be lots of fun! I use it with my 105 Nikor micro lens occasionally and can get the most dreamy look, just gorgeous. No kidding. I also have the 77mm size, pro mist 3 for the 70-200 zoom. Really can't tell much difference between the #2 and #3 strength. Get the black version if you don't want some halos around the highlights. I like the halos personally.
